Position Overview

Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is looking for an intern to develop in our Finance Department. The Finance Intern will gain hands on experience with the department assisting with reconciliations, accounts payable and receivables, budgets, general accounting entries as well as other day-to-day operations.

This is a paid internship. Interns will be paid $12.00 per hour, with the ability to work thirty (30) hours maximum per week. The 2024-2025 season program runs from September 9, 2024 through April 25, 2025.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily cash consolidation for ticketing and events for various entities
  • Assist in the preparation of tax information for various entities and jurisdictions
  • Update Excel workbooks and summarizing information such as insurance policies or sponsorship contracts.
  • Assist the department with accounts payable entries.
  • Assist with actual vs. budget comparisons
  • Record routine cash transactions in the sub ledger and post batches to the general ledger.
  • Reconcile and process team travel invoices, media travel invoices along with tracking and updating the travel allocation and budget to actual comparisons
  • Engage in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadow opportunities and work closely with fellow interns to successfully complete and present the intern project.
  • Traditional intern tasks such as copying, filing, and basic data entry.

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities
