About Charlotte FC

Charlotte FC played its inaugural season in Major League Soccer in 2022. The club set an MLS attendance record in its opening game with over 74,000 spectators in Bank of America Stadium and has been at the top of MLS in attendance throughout its first two seasons. The club has a fully funded player development pathway that is tasked with identifying and developing professional players from across the Carolinas and beyond to play in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Position Summary

The Charlotte Football Club Academy would like to hire a part-time educator whose focus is providing academic support to Academy players across a variety of mathematical concepts. Charlotte FC Academy players have dedicated academic time where they are learning on an online/virtual platform during the hours of 9:00 am - 2:00 pm, four days per week. This position will be expected to work with students individually or in small groups during these hours. The day-stay program includes approximately 50 students ranging in age from 14 to 18 years of age.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide academic support during assigned hours to individual students and small groups
  • Primarily provide math tutoring in the following areas: algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus
  • Organize math study pods and workshops during class time to encourage meaningful learning and collaboration between students
  • Assist with homework. Explain concepts in a manner that students understand.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ work to determine progress and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Motivate and support students through positive feedback and reinforcement.
  • Help maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, progress, and any incidents that occur in the classroom.
  • Supervise and monitor students as needed.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Academy education staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate / BA degree in Mathematics or Education, or pursuing degree in Mathematics or Education, or Background in teaching Mathematics
  • Availability to work from 9:00am to 2:00pm, four days per week.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must pass pre-employment screens.

Skills for Success:

  • Strong experience teaching / working with adolescent boys (specifically ages 14 – 18)
  • Ability to manage a classroom, including enforcing educational and behavioral policies and procedures to ensure a safe, structured, and productive learning environment.
  • Strong work ethic, incredible attention to detail and great pride and precision in your work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works well within in a collaborative, team-driven, and goal-based environment.

  • The ability to prioritize workload to manage time and tasks.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • This position operates in a professional office and classroom setting.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., as necessary.
  • Ability to remain standing/walking for up to 4 hours.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to remain sitting for up to 4 hours at a desk and computer.
  • Must be able to write, type and use phone system.
  • Sitting at a desk and computer for long periods of time.
