Crown Legacy FC Overview

Crown Legacy Football Club is a professional soccer team devoted to player development and producing the next generation of soccer talent within the Charlotte FC organization. After announcing its entry into the league in 2022, Crown Legacy FC played its inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season in 2023. CLFC is committed to entrenching itself within Matthews and the surrounding areas creating community grassroots events.


Position Summary

This position will support projects associated with all aspects of the business operations of the Charlotte FC’s Next Pro Team, Crown Legacy FC. The role will include but is not limited to internal/external media relations, community engagement, partnership development, and marketing activation. The Business Operations Coordinator will work alongside the President of Crown Legacy FC and cross-functional departments to accomplish organization goals and continue building Crown Legacy FC into a premier MLS NEXT Pro Club. The ideal candidate strives for perfection and actively looks for opportunities to improve the Club effectively and efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties:

  • Primary club contact/liaison for Charlotte FC’s MLS Next Pro Team.
  • Filter, organize and coordinate all media requests.
  • Create media cadence with Head Coach, team staff and players to ensure that media requests and interviews are coordinated appropriately and with the Teams schedule in mind.
  • Provide media support at all matches, both home and away.
  • Write media communications with team updates and player news.
  • Stay informed and up to date on MLS NEXT Pro news across the league and share any updates with the Communications Department as necessary.
  • Work with Community Relations team to proactively plan, promote and execute community engagement.
  • Provide communications support across departments within the organization as needed (Ex. Marketing, Ticket Sales, Community.)
  • Assist as needed in the development, coordination, and implementation of game day activities including media operations, marketing activations, etc.
  • Assist with day-to-day planning and management of all Crown Legacy FC related projects and needs.
  • Support creation of a broad array of digital and/or print promotional and communication materials to cover anything related to the team.
  • Play active role in managing Crown Legacy FC budget and financial reporting in coordination with Crown Legacy FC President
  • Provide public relations and media relations support for all CLTFC games – home and away.
  • Create a calendar of global, national, and local soccer events and identify opportunities to promote the club.
  • Assist in the development and distribution of game notes packets, match recaps, previews, and statistics for media.
  • Assist with fulfilling all media requests, including those from international news outlets.
  • Contributes to the information flow between soccer operations and business operations.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, sports management, or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in sports public relations/communications or related field
  • Individual should have experience in budget management.
  • Excellent Skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be flexible to work evenings and/or weekends, including events held on weekends, nights, and holidays when necessary.
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel to away trips and events.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license to drive to team van during team travel as required.
  • Must pass pre-employment screens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish) or multi-lingual skills
  • Experience working in the soccer, sports, and/or entertainment industry.

  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and desktop publishing software.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of media contacts.
  • Punctuality, accountability, and keen attention to detail in each duty
  • Discretion and trustworthiness related to sensitive club-related material.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group and handle several tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to react quickly and positively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to handle confidential, privileged, and/or sensitive information with carefully and with sensitivity.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time throughout the day.
  • Ability to focus on projects for periods of time.
  • Role routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • Lift at least 20 pounds

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment as well as outside in stadium facility environments. Candidate must be able to work both indoors and outdoors, and endure weather conditions including rain, wind, high and low temperatures, etc. Additionally, the candidate must be willing to work remotely as assigned by management and based on current business needs.
