Crown Legacy FC Overview
Crown Legacy Football Club is a professional soccer team devoted to player development and producing the next generation of soccer within the Charlotte FC organization. After announcing its entry into the league in 2022, Crown Legacy FC played its inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season in 2023. CLFC is committed to entrenching itself within Matthews and the surrounding areas creating community grassroots events.

Position Summary
The Crown Legacy Assistant Coach works alongside the Crown Legacy Head Coach and other coaching staff to implement the strategy and development of Crown Legacy’s MLS NEXT Pro players. The Assistant Coach assists in leading, structuring and developing a comprehensive strategy for Crown Legacy’s training sessions, learning platforms and cadence including all technical and tactical aspects. This Assistant Coach is expected to proactively support Crown Legacy’s player development process, including participation in Academy and Charlotte FC training sessions to support continuity between Crown Legacy, Academy, and First Team. The Assistant Coach is responsible for creating transition plans for Crown Legacy players in accordance with our One Club Philosophy to support their transition between the Academy, Crown Legacy and First Team. This Assistant Coach will regularly liaise with First Team staff on progress of top talents and high potential players. The Assistant Coach will strive to achieve success on the pitch, identify & develop the individual strengths of our players, and remain current with the latest mechanisms and strategies to cultivate growth, progression, and development of high potential players, improving the overall quality of our club.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist with coaching Crown Legacy’s MLS NEXT Pro Team during all matches, including the regular season, tournaments, and exhibitions.
  • Serve as a mentor for our players and other Crown Legacy staff.
  • Work in partnership with the coaching staff and scouting team to evaluate potential players.
  • Create dual-path transition plans for players.
  • Liaise with First Team staff on progress of high potential players via consistent communication in formal and informal meetings.
  • Analyze and evaluate opponents to determine game strategy ahead of matches.
  • Partner with Head Coach and other coaching staff to consult and advise with respect to Crown Legacy’s roster and player movements including possible ascension to the First Team.
  • Partner with Academy staff to oversee recruitment, tryouts, selection, training, evaluation and retention of elite players within Charlotte FC’s Academy.
  • Learn, acknowledge and enforce MLS league guidelines and ensure that the Crown Legacy staff and players are also in compliance.
  • Act as an ambassador on behalf of Charlotte FC and Crown Legacy FC as we grow our brand and presence throughout the Carolinas.


Qualifications

  • Experience coaching at a professional soccer level.
  • Must have a USSF A License, UEFA A License or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Must be legally allowed to work in US.
  • Must have a valid passport.
  • Must be flexible to work long hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel to away trips and events.
  • Must pass pre-employment screens.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position operates in a professional office environment and outside in a stadium facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Travel will be required to matches nationally, and on occasion internationally.

  • Must be able to work in all Crown Legacy matches, home and away.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to remain sitting for up to 8 hours at a desk and computer.
  • Ability to remain standing/walking for up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to climb stairs.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, and endure weather conditions, including rain, wind, high and low temperatures, etc.
  • Must be able to work in non-traditional settings, and work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
