Part time Catering Assistant/Server

As a key part of our Catering team. you will act as our high-quality standards expert, ensuring every guest expectation is met and every experience is a positive one. Your duties will consist of assisting the team in event preparation, set-up, production, and breakdown. You will play a key role in contributing to our customers’ satisfaction and the overall success of the Backyard Bistro brand.

Key Duties and responsibilities

● Come to work on time and prepared for your shift in proper uniform.

● Follow all given directions and ensure quality standards are met

● Assist catering chef lead in loading required food and/or service items into catering vechicles

● Assist in stocking food station(s)/buffets as directed by lead catering chef lead

● Understand and adhere to company’s policies, processes and quality standards.

● Work with catering chef lead to ensure proper set up and presentation according to BEO and/or planner’s direction

● During service of event, job may include, but not be limited to setting tables, butler passing menu items, serving, carrying trays, bussing tables, scraping plates, resetting venue at and of event and removing trash.

● Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation and/or other services as directed by management.

● Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.

● Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

● Able to read, write and understand English.

● Demonstrate sound moral and ethical principles at work.

● Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment without losing composure still maintaining high quality standards.

● Competent at creating and upholding a safe working environment.

● Able to re-stock all items as required all through shift.

● Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with staff and customers.

● Good math and written communication skills.

● Track record of working in a flexible timetable based on employer’s requirements.

● Eager to perform all kinds of additional tasks assigned by the manager.

● Demonstrated ability to build and maintain quick, accurate and excellent customer relationships.

● Have reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Must be able to work evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
  • Must pass a criminal background check

Education and Experience

● High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

● ServSafe Certified highly preferred.

● 2 years of customer service experience.

Physical Requirements

● Frequent walking and standing up to 6-8 hours.

● Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

● Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.

● Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly.
