Position: Network Engineer

Reports to: Director, IT Engineering and Architecture

Position Overview:

The Network Engineer position will be a member of the team responsible for the management, maintenance, and implementation of the Braves’ network platform at Truist Park (GA), The Battery (GA), and the North Port (FL) facility. This position will work to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency while also implementing best practices for network operations and security.

Technology Services works closely with business partners to improve and transform technology-enabled capabilities and the value of the Technology investment portfolio through innovation, execution, and an outstanding user experience. Major responsibilities:

  • Help develop a culture of operational excellence through best-in-class service and support to internal and external customers.
  • Drive innovation through introduction of new technologies and process efficiencies.
  • Participate in strategic decision-making processes to optimize the effectiveness of technology in use throughout the organization.
  • Daily management and maintenance tasks for complex, multi-site networking environment consisting of Cisco routers, Cisco switches, and Cisco wireless.
  • Daily management and maintenance tasks for IPTV systems.
  • Maintain highly secure infrastructure, protecting sensitive corporate data from internal and external threats through enforcement of established IT security policies; monitor and manage enterprise firewall environments to comply with those policies.
  • Quickly diagnose and solve complex networking issues, often under intense time constraints. Provide network and host-based security, incident response, firewall and VPN management and administration.
  • Implement the necessary controls and procedures to protect information assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction.
  • Remain current on relevant emerging technologies via professional groups, trade organizations, internal and external training, independent research, and any other avenues available.
  • Conduct periodic audits, testing, and remediation in accordance with Braves IT, SOX, and PCI policies.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Information Systems or similar or 5+ years of demonstrated, hands-on experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge in application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, NTP, FTP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, and Kerberos).
  • Fundamental understanding of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS).
  • Fundamental understanding of Voice over IP technologies.
  • Positive, motivated self-starter who is an action-oriented problem solver.
  • Customer first, service-oriented mindset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Must complete a successful background check.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Active industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) with focus on Route and Switch, Wireless, and/or Security.
  • Experience managing and administering enterprise network firewall, IDS, and IPS systems.
  • Experience with stadium/entertainment venue technology (IPTV, High Density Wireless Networks, POS Systems).
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts and experience with infrastructure automation technologies (Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet).
