Job Summary

The Arizona Diamondbacks are seeking a Director of Broadcasting to join their in-house broadcasting team. As the Director of Broadcasting for the Arizona Diamondbacks, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the team's public image through effective management of TV and radio broadcasting initiatives. This position requires a dynamic individual with a deep understanding of broadcasting, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality content to fans. The Director of Broadcasting will work alongside the VP of Broadcasting with oversight of a multifaceted team, ensuring seamless coordination of events, production, broadcast engineering and communication with the league. This role is a very hands-on position along with shared responsibilities that interface with internal departments including Communications, Marketing, Corporate Partnerships and Community Relations. Candidates must demonstrate a blend of experienced strategy, communication, technical knowledge, strong leadership, and project execution skills.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Broadcast Management: Assist and support the VP with oversight and management of all aspects of TV and radio broadcasting for the team. Help develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the quality and reach of broadcasting initiatives.
Communicate & Collaborate with Affiliated Organizations: Establish and maintain strong communication channels with league officials, broadcasting counterparts, rights-holder partners, media counterparts & vendors. Ensure compliance with league broadcasting guidelines and requirements.
Event Coordination and Production: Help coordinate broadcasting logistics for all team events, including games, special events, promotional activities, and broadcast schedules. Collaborate with production teams to ensure high-quality broadcasts that engage and captivate the audience.
Broadcast Engineering: Under direction from the VP, this position will assist oversight of the technical aspects of broadcasting, including equipment maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting of Chase Field audio & video systems managed by an experienced broadcast engineering staff. Stay current with industry trends and technology to ensure the team remains at the forefront of broadcasting innovation.
Talent Contracts: Oversee and support existing contracts for broadcasting talent, including play-by-play announcers, analysts, and production staff. Ensure compliance with league regulations and standards in all talent agreements.
Team Leadership: Help to lead a team of broadcasters, producers, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Provide guidance and mentorship to enhance the skills and performance of the broadcasting team.
Budget Management: Assist the VP with management of the broadcasting budget that includes department salaries, part-time freelance help, production costs, travel expenses and equipment maintenance, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve organizational goals.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Communications, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
Proven experience in a leadership role within sports broadcasting or a similar field.
Strong knowledge of Major League Baseball broadcasting regulations and industry best practices.
Strong understanding of sports marketing and media relations at the professional sports team level
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate with employees, vendors, media & league personnel.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Technical proficiency in broadcasting equipment and software.
