The Lady Ducks Hockey Director is responsible for Lady Ducks programming, including program oversight and personnel development, implementation strategy, and staff management in a manner supportive of Irvine Ice Foundation’s mission, vision, and values. This is a full-time contracted role.
Responsibilities
Administration
- Direct scheduling of events, including team practices, try-outs, tournaments, training camps, and strategically Rink-sponsored events to ensure synergy and cooperation between facilities, thus providing the optimal guest experience
- Oversee the try-out process and direct the formation of teams, including players, coaching assignments, and team manager selection to provide our teams with the best experience possible
- Manage all Tier 1 and Tier 2 applications
- Oversee all Lady Ducks in Training programs and any IGF Girls’ initiatives
- Manage all program communication with the existing Lady Ducks community, alums, and future athletes
- Work to secure additional funding or grants targeted at expanding the female player population, providing opportunities for new or diverse audiences to participate in programming and improve the pathway for female hockey players
- Maintain a consistent presence at events and assist programming when needed
- Represent company values and enforce standards of service
- Oversee program registration process and administration to ensure cooperation between IIF programs
- Conduct coach & player clinics
- Manage the mentorship program for emerging coaches
- Oversees 6u-12u teams, players, and coaches
- Develop and implement policies and long-range plans for the organization
- Represent the Lady Ducks at Regional and National Player Development Camps, National Championships, USA Hockey Conferences, District/National Boards, and Committees
- Serve as a liaison between The Lady Ducks and USA Hockey governing bodies
- Oversee and ensure implementation of IIF and USA Hockey’s policies
- Work cohesively with CAHA, Pacific District, and USA Hockey
- Serve as the contact person for ADM instruction and clinics
- Ensure compliance with all company SOPs
Personnel Management
- Manage coach recruitment, onboarding, and training of coaches
- Ensure professional development of staff, including working with USA Hockey and outside vendors to provide content
- Mentor and conduct regular check-ins with coaches
Marketing & Promotions
- Oversee working relationships with the affiliate programs, facilities, and organizations to ensure opportunities for collaborating and marketing
- Assist the marketing team with the content of brochures, flyers, and advertising media and approve all content
- Work with the marketing department on league/program development, specifically in the realm of grassroots programming, i.e., Try Hockey for Free, the Learn to Play program, and the Little Ducks program
- Manage The Lady Duck programs social media and oversee content production, including Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook accounts
- Oversee and responsible for integrating new promotions into ongoing Hockey Programming
Program Growth and Guest Experience
- Ensure the Guest experience represents the IIF/The Rinks/Anaheim Ducks name in programming quality and service
- Promote the growth of the organization through cooperative management of relationships with facilities, partnerships, and other entities outside of The Rinks and Anaheim Ducks
- Ensure all programming works cohesively to build the sport and the organization’s vision
- Maintain the highest level of Guest Service both internally and externally
- Promote the successes of team members along with the company’s vision and values
- Ensure professional growth and development of all staff members
- Communicate goals and expectations to ensure consistency
- Demonstrate the initiative and commitment to communication and teamwork to ensure optimal guest service
- Ensure professional growth and development of all direct reports by encouraging awareness of industry trends and taking an active role in community activities and business-relevant regional and national associations
- Other duties as assigned
Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in developing/running hockey programs
- Excellent skating/hockey skills and instructional ability
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills
- Registered and insured through USA Hockey
- Strong knowledge of hockey equipment
- Able to maintain accurate and complete records
- Strong knowledge of sports and recreation programming
- Must possess outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills
- Able to work a schedule with changing days off and hours, including weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late evenings
- Able to communicate the IIF and the Anaheim Ducks’ vision and commitment to quality service, products, and entertainment
- Is a flexible service-minded self-starter who is highly motivated and possesses energy, enthusiasm, assertiveness, drive, and a sense of fun
- Able to articulate ideas, both verbally and in writing, with excellent presentation skills
- Exemplify strong leadership skills and serve as a role model

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Education - Bachelor's Degree
Certifications Required – Level 5 USA Hockey certification
Experience Required - 10+ Year's
