Director, Legal Affairs for Data, Privacy & Technology

Pay Details:

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $166,612 to $203,637 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.

ocV!BE, a premier mixed-use community and live entertainment district, is coming to Anaheim in 2026! This $3 billion, 95-acre, mixed-use community will surround its anchor, Honda Center, with new live entertainment venues, dining and retail offerings, and public amenities. From intimate clubs to a new 6K-capacity concert venue, ocV!BE will provide a full range of entertainment, activating the District daily for the enjoyment of its guests.

Reporting directly to the Vice President & Assistant General Counsel (VP &AGC), the Director of Legal Affairs for Data, Privacy & Technology contributes to managing and providing of legal services to the Company and its affiliates, with a particular focus on data, privacy, and technology. The Company’s affiliates include ocV!BE Sports & Entertainment, Anaheim Arena Management (Honda Center), Anaheim Ducks Hockey Club, Anaheim Real Estate Partners, ATCM (ARTIC), Irvine Ice Foundation, The Rinks Foundation, JTs Restaurant & Brewery, and San Diego Gulls Hockey Club.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the VP to manage the data, privacy, and technology aspects of the Company
  • Provide legal advice to internal clients (e.g., Information Technology, Marketing, Product, Experience, and Digital Media) on data privacy, data governance, and data security issues, including advising on data privacy compliance, privacy impact assessments, and privacy training
  • Conduct internal training on privacy policies and develop tools and resources for use by the Company's business units
  • Respond to internal and external privacy inquiries
  • Assist with designing, implementing, and managing Company’s privacy compliance programs
  • Review, analyze, and draft client-facing and vendor data processing agreements and provisions related to data privacy, data governance, and data security
  • Provide training to internal stakeholders regarding data privacy and processes
  • Manage the Company’s data privacy program in coordination with IT
  • Negotiate and draft IT, SaaS, and other technology contracts
  • Research and monitor applicable data privacy and security laws and regulations to provide proposed changes necessary to ensure compliance and mitigate risk
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments for initiatives across a broad range of business teams and provide advice related to data collecting, sharing, use, and security
  • Work collaboratively with and support colleagues across the Legal team on a variety of cross-functional commercial contracts, projects, and departmental initiatives
  • Ensure consistent application of legal processes and strategies across all Company affiliates
  • Perform other duties as directed by the VP

Skills:

  • 5+ years of legal experience with privacy compliance and a variety of technology and commercial matters
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, member in good standing of at least one state bar, and eligible to be registered as an in-house counsel with the State Bar of California
  • CIPP/US certification preferred
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with privacy and information security laws, data privacy, and security provisions and technology agreements
  • Able to perform legal research, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Excellent organization and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Able to develop, implement, and enforce appropriate procedures and controls
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects to completion
  • Possess sound business judgment
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to communicate, work cooperatively, and interact comfortably with all levels of the Company
