We are seeking a proactive and pragmatic Legal Coordinator/Paralegal to join our in-house legal team. This individual will report directly to the Vice President, General Counsel and will assist the Legal Department by providing administrative, clerical, and research support services including document preparation and review, research and fact checking, and legal operations support. To foster an environment of collaboration and build relationships across leadership, peers, and teams, the Legal Coordinator/Paralegal will work from the office 5 days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and review basic legal documents such as waivers, releases, contest and promotion rules, and other legal documents with oversight from Vice President, General Counsel
- Maintain a comprehensive record of all executed agreements, ensuring contracts are organized, accessible, and properly stored
- Conducts routine legal research and writing
- Help to develop various operational processes related to contract management, vendor management, and legal billing and invoicing
- Assist in the development and implementation of a legal request system
- Assist in the revamping of legal operations, including the implementation of measures to assess, manage, enhance, develop and streamline processes
- Facilitate internal departmental engagement and legal education refreshers
- Aid with outside counsel management, including the development of an outside counsel selection and engagement process
- Assist with special project administration and management as assigned
Qualifications:
- Paralegal certification and/or 3+ years of relevant experience in corporate in-house departments or at a large law firm or contracts management experience.
- Knowledge of basic contract clauses, drafting, and legal routing processes.
- Experience fostering successful interactions and communicating with a diverse array of colleagues, clients, stakeholders, and leaders at all levels.
- The highest commitment to high ethical and professional standards, including personal integrity and sound judgement.
- Knowledge of basic legal terminology and principles.
- Superior written and oral communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to prioritize and work as a team with other departments in a high-performing and high-profile environment.
- Discretion, sensitivity, and tact in handling internal and external confidential matters.
- Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to efficiently project manage multiple tasks and initiatives at the same time.
