Special Events Intern - Providence Park & Portland Timbers

Providence Park and the Portland Timbers are looking to hire a Special Events Intern. Interns will assist with the planning and execution of all non-gameday special events at the stadium. The intern will serve as an on-site lead for all events, which includes managing staff, dealing with event timelines, and problem-solving throughout the events. Interns will also drive event sales through industry research, marketing efforts, and responding to sales inquiries. All interns will be expected to be a Providence Park representative at onsite and outside events.

Typical Hours: 30 - 40 hours a week mostly during typical business hours with some evenings, weekends an Holidays
Duration: Typically, through the end of the MLS season and/or calendar year, depending on business need.
Compensation: $17 per hour. Eligible for overtime.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Event planning and/or execution experience
  • A strong desire to work in the special events industry
  • Comfortable with leadership and/or management responsibilities
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and pay close attention to details
  • Experience communicating effectively with multiple stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting
  • Must have basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office programs
  • Must have outstanding follow through and organizational abilities
  • Ability to work onsite at Providence Park during typical M – F office hours and during events which may be during evenings or weekends/holidays. (there is some flexibility with total hours during the week)
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and have FUN!


General physical requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, often several hours at a time.
  • Capability to navigate the stadium, which may include climbing stairs and moving across different levels and terrains.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies, which may weigh up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Assisting with setup and teardown of event materials, which can be physically demanding.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Good vision and hearing to ensure safety and effective communication in a dynamic and potentially loud environment.
