Position:
The Lead Video Analyst is a crucial member of the Sporting Operations Department at Minnesota United FC (MNUFC), a Major League Soccer (MLS) team located in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.
Job Description:
As the Lead Video Analyst, your primary focus will be to support the Technical Staff while overseeing the Assistant Video Analyst. Your responsibilities include preparing comprehensive scouting reports and presentations for upcoming opponents, compiling post-match review clips for the team and individual players, and collaborating with the data scientist to develop KPIs based on the teamβs style of play.
This position, located in Blaine, MN, involves various duties and daily tasks outlined below.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare in-depth scouting report and presentation on opposition for all games to support Technical Staff.
- Provide individual scouting videos for the opposition's starting 11.
- Perform live, individual, and post-game coding for all MNUFC games, including away games.
- Support Technical Staff in-game with radio communication and video clips for halftime review.
- Utilize telestration tools to effectively communicate key points and tactical concepts.
- Provide comprehensive post-match analysis, utilizing both video and data insights .
- Maintain statistical database and performance related KPIs. Work alongside data scientist to verify and ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Convert and organize film from multiple angles for all MLS Games.
- Manage and develop club-wide best practices for utilizing Hudl suite and support coaching staff when needed.
- Provide video resources to coaches and players to enhance understanding of playing style and performance.
- Manage IDP library and provide individual player analysis for coaching staff.
- Support individual player development through video and data support.
- Maintain library of principles of play and best practice clips.
- Create bespoke set piece metrics to provide set piece analysis and insights to coaching staff.
- Oversee the filming and breakdown of training sessions.
- Review training video and incorporate into match preparation meetings.
- Conduct season-long analysis for chosen metrics, available for review throughout the season.
- Travel with the team to all away games to fulfill Video Analysis duties.
- Monitor and maintain video equipment.
- Manage the full setup of equipment and video technology on game day.
- Collaborate with assistant video analyst to develop department workflows and provide technical staff with all analysis needs.
- Collaborate with MNUFC2 and Academy teams to support player and team development.
- Continuously research best practices and new trends to further develop analysis department.
- Assist coaching staff with other duties as needed.
Requirements:
- 4-6 years of analysis experience in a professional setting.
- Coaching qualifications / playing experience, preferred.
- Proficiency in Analysis Software (Hudl Sportscode, Studio, Insight).
- Experience with data visualization software (Tableau, Power BI) is strongly preferred.
- Experience and certification flying a drone is preferred.
- Experience with coding languages (SQL, R, Python) is strongly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey messages to colleagues, coaches, and players.
- Ability to work with data.
- Extremely detail-oriented and organized.
- Dedication to the role and the extra hours needed outside a standard work day.
- Ability to prepare and deliver presentations incorporating both data and video.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously.
- Proactive and enthusiastic approach to provide information and insights.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Keynote.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and the occasional holidays.

Compensation and Benefits:
Minnesota United FC values the contributions of our team members and is committed to transparency in our compensation practices. The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $60,000 with the final offer based on experience and qualifications.
