What would you do?

​​Responsibilities in the fast-paced environment include, but are not limited to, the following: working Lynx home games and preparing materials for the media, setting up and taking down the Lynx media section and media room, transcribing post-game quotes and distributing them to media and other projects as needed. Attendance at Lynx practices and shootarounds is required, and the job includes some weekend work. This is a seasonal role.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these essential functions:

  1. ​​ Assist the Lynx basketball communications department in all facets of the team’s basketball communications efforts.
  2. Execute Lynx game-day duties, including the production and distribution of credentials, media seating charts and in-game and postgame notes and quotes.
  3. Assist with gameday media operations, including the setup/teardown of the team’s media room, photo lanes, score table and auxiliary media sections.
  4. Regularly attend practices and shootarounds to assist with media interview requests.
  5. Support Lynx press conferences, including equipment setup, communication with media and additional logistics.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge on how to procure statistical information for notes, tweets and media inquiries.
  • Effective communication skills when dealing with media, coaches and players as well as other departments.
  • The ability to work on deadline and meet team mandated timeframes.
  • The skill of time allocation to prioritize tasks to properly balance multiple department demands.
  • The ability to hold sensitive information in confidence.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to learn and think objectively.

Additional information:

Experience: ​Communications background, including Public Relations, Journalism and/or sports information experience is preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Work Environment

​​Work is generally sedentary in nature. The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. This job also operates in gymnasiums, the Timberwolves/Lynx practice facility and a professional sports arena, which include bleachers/steps

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone. The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, as well as operate computers and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, printer and telephone. Staff will occasionally ascend and descend bleachers/steps and traverse around the arena both on event days and non-event days. Staff will frequently move boxes and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.

Travel ​​Position may require travel to external events. ​
