The Miami Marlins MiLB Dietitian will assist the MiLB Nutrition Coordinator in optimizing nutrition support for our athletes through our core values of innovation, thinking 3 years ahead, and being a good teammate. This role will place a large emphasis on nutrition education through multiple platforms and methods including presentations, digital communication, one-on-one consultations, and created documents. In addition to nutrition education, this role will help with affiliate catering, perform body composition testing as needed, provide medical nutrition therapy, practice and competition fueling, and ensuring department and organizational standards are met.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with the implementation of the Miami Marlins Performance Nutrition System.
- Assist in the development of personalized nutrition programs when needed.
- Provide nutrition education in small group settings and large team settings.
- Educate athletes on supplementation and implementing supplement protocols.
- Provide daily education to athletes around fueling, recovery, and hydration.
- Perform grocery store tours as needed and coordinate cooking demonstrations.
- Develop meal plan templates for spring training and other instructional programs.
- Assist clubhouse personnel in catering of pre- and post-game meals.
- Ensure proper food safety and sanitation procedures are met.
- Utilize data from sweat testing to provide hydration recommendations.
- Attend team activities as needed including lifts/training/conditioning, and meals.
- Collaborate with all departments to achieve group objectives.
- Assist MiLB Coordinator in tracking expenses and managing meal budgets.
- Communicate expectations to food service providers regarding quantity and quality.
- Maintain regular communication with Nutrition Coordinator.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requisite Education; Attitudes; Skills:
- Registered Dietitian-required (RD Eligible is acceptable case by case).
- Passion and interest in educating athletes on how to optimize performance.
- Minimum 1 year experience within a professional, private, or collegiate program.
- Computing-Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and record keeping abilities.
- Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), preferred.
- Spanish-speaking preferred.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
- Willing to relocate. Position is based in Jupiter, FL.
- Willingness to work long, flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
