The Miami HEAT and Kaseya Center are looking for a Part-Time Event Audio Technician! This role’s primary responsibilities will be to install, mix, and program in-house analog/network audio for live productions and special events. The technician needs to be capable of operating sound equipment in live events to ensure the best acoustic result. This person must be agile around multiple types of audio equipment and an expert in using them to produce quality sound. This person must also possess advanced knowledge of audio and video equipment, some experience with lighting and have excellent troubleshooting skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

  1. Works with HEAT Group Departments regarding audio-visual requirements for events:
  • PowerPoint presentations, audio and videoconferences.
  • Operation of audio-visual equipment during events with the aim to provide high quality visual presentation standards
  • Positioning, installation and operation of equipment within all event areas.
  • Perform all necessary pre-event checks as required for the event.
  • Cooperate with specialized production agencies and visiting media companies in the provision of events and broadcasts.
  • Set up & support press conferences
Manage and troubleshoot all arena production equipment and installations, demonstrating professionalism and the highest level of expertise. Audio Technician serve as liaison with tenants and event promoters to assist with arena broadcast connectivity and to ensure all A/V systems are running at optimal level. The position involves a high degree of exposure, working with all levels of staffing and visitors including executive management and other high profile figures to provide live event services. The Audio Technician may assist with pre-event planning and resource scheduling, technical briefing, live event management, technical delivery and post-event wrap-up. The Audio Technician may assist in installation and termination of various broadcast/IT cabling ie: Cat6 ethernet, Coax, SM fiber, balanced audio (XLR). Provide excellent team work and training to Broadcast Services personal, and serve as lead A/V tech for remote productions. Assists in maintaining and managing Arena’s audio systems. Assist with maintaining audio equipment inventory. Set up and break down audio equipment including microphones, sound speakers, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing board, and related electronic systems for concerts, sporting events, meetings, conventions, presentations, and news conferences. Operate Arena Sound Control Booth. Operate control consoles for sound; Mixes, monitors, adjusts and enhances sound quality. Collaborate with all positions in a live production control room Diagnose and resolve audio system problems; Resolve technical issues when they arise

Skills & Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree preferred; Associate degree or other relevant certification recommended. Must have High school diploma or G.E.D.; degree in audio/sound engineering or related field is a plus.
  • Technical expertise in sound engineering techniques (e.g. feedback equalization, patching, routing, digital plugins)
  • Experience with live event sound production including mixing, hard-wired and wireless microphone setup, and PA system operation
  • Experience with audio signal distribution and mixing systems
  • Experience and knowledge in audio over IP, Dante protocols and software’s.
  • Fluent in Clear-Com, Yamaha, Presonus, Shure, Lake Controller, Dante
  • Experience with sound editing and recording equipment.
  • Installation experience with audio and video equipment is a plus
  • Audio Technician must be a team player with good oral communication and interpersonal skills
    Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all arena personnel and external clients.
  • Must have advance technical experience in all aspects of electrical, live sound reinforcement, and stage management.
  • Must be able to work and complete tasks with minimal Supervision.
