The Purpose:

The Alliances & Partnerships Planner will work alongside the sales and core partnership teams to drive the strategic thinking through the Manchester United planning framework.
As a core part of the Alliances & Partnerships team, the planner will use data-driven insights to develop and implement strategies and campaigns for the club's future and existing partners.


The Role:

  • To lead planning workshops and construct a partnership strategy alongside the core partnership team that maximises the effectiveness of Manchester United’s partners’ rights
  • To create content briefs for each campaign using insights that ensure the messaging connects with fans
  • To propose suitable media activation strategies for each campaign that lead to measurable partner outcomes
  • To advise suitable measurement approaches that support partner objectives
  • To understand evolving media platforms that help inform the planning process and drive best-practice
  • To help prospective partners understand how a partnership with Manchester United could support their business goals and supporting with campaign ideation to bring the partnership to life

The Person:

  • Strong experience in brand, communications and media planning
  • Previous experience in delivering innovative, content-led digital marketing strategies
  • A good understanding of media analytics (effectiveness, reach, frequency, audiences, measurement, and optimisation) and how to interpret the data to make informed strategic decisions
  • In-depth knowledge of the digital media marketplace
  • An understanding of what and why content works for global brands
  • Strong presentation skills with the confidence to present in front of senior stakeholders
  • A critical thinker with a natural curiosity for problem-solving
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong collaboration skills with a positive, “can-do” mentality
  • Previous experience working in a strategic planning role on the agency, brand or rights holder side is preferable
