The GM / Director of Pay to Play will be responsible for a Multi-million P&L , within a high growth area including Football Education, Recreation & Partner Clubs. This is a key role in an area of significant growth, which is set to double again over the next few years. At the intersection between football & business, you will manage teams in multiple geographies globally managing all aspects of the division’s pay to play programs This role involves strategic planning, operational oversight, and commercial management of those programs, working in a very strong matrix environment.

Your Impact

  1. Strategy development
    • Develop and implement a multi-year comprehensive strategy for Pay to play programs globally.
    • Guide individual geographies in development and implementation of individual strategies for growth, which may include location expansion, new product creation, etc.
  2. Commercial:
    • Manage & achieve targets for the global pay to play P&L
    • Distil key levers for a profitable operation, and ensure all pay to play programs globally implement those levers
    • Maintain in depth knowledge of the pay to play industry, keeping abreast of external competitive landscape, opportunities of expansion etc
    • Support MD and Head of BD, and input into business cases for new pay to play operations to be deployed.
  3. Operational delivery and program management
    • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to the respective heads of the geographies, working collaboratively with their regional line manager.
    • Establish guidelines to monitor the performance of the pay to play operations, and evaluate results to ensure the overall goals are met.
    • Oversee the end-to-end management of pay to play programs, from planning to execution to evaluation.
    • Engage and liaise with specialised colleagues for expert advice on relevant aspects like financial, legal, employment and regulatory issues that affect the pay to play business.
  4. Governance & Organisation:
    • Establish of a set of standards that all geographies with a pay to play program adhere to.
    • Ensure best practises are shared amongst the geographies.
    • Ensure pay to play operations comply with the relevant legislative framework, as well as internal relevant policies, like CFG Safeguarding Policy and GDPR.
  5. Stakeholder engagement
    • Work collaboratively with the relevant local leadership to ensure pay to play programs are a success

What we are looking for

Essential

    • General Manager experience in a highly fast paced and competitive commercial environment.
    • Demonstrable Multi-million pound P&L responsibilities.
    • Experience managing stakeholders in a matrixed environment, preferably across borders.
    • Proven analytical and problem solving experience.
    • An international mindset.
    • A plus if you have consultancy with implementation experience in a commercial setting.
