Purpose
Established in 1986, City in the Community is the registered charity of Manchester City and exists to empower healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.
City in the Community is looking for a creative and self-motivated Digital Communications Assistant, to support the charity as it continues to expand its impact storytelling. The Digital Communications Assistant will take responsibility for creating, curating, and scheduling compelling digital content for CITC’s online channels, with a focus on videography.
Supported by the Digital Communications Officer, they will ensure that all social media and website channels are being used effectively to showcase the impact City in the Community has on young people across Manchester. Other responsibilities of the role include the sourcing and editing of photographic and other social media content, as well as providing administrative and analysis support to the Digital Communications Officer.
Accountabilities
- Source compelling stories and case studies about CITC’s good work, using videography and imagery to bring them to life across digital channels.
- Input into planning documents for social media, ensuring that all channels are populated with appropriate key messaging and content in line with the wider digital communications strategy.
- Work closely alongside the Communications Officer to execute a strategic youth-led approach to the charity’s digital content.
- Become the point of contact for day-to-day programme social media requests
- Input into reporting documents for digital channels, on a monthly basis to help enable analysis and recommendations for engagement and awareness growth alongside the Communications Officer.
- Lead on generating stories for, and creating, the City in the Community monthly newsletter.
- Work closely with the Communications Officer to support on priorities as they arise, ensuring that all work delivered falls in line with the wider CITC comms strategy and campaigns.
- Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.
- Ensuring that all CITC and CFG policies and procedures are adhered to, enabling high quality provision to be maintained
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Degree or equivalent in relevant field, such as videography, media or journalism.
- Confident video creation and editing skills.
- Proficient in Adobe Premier Pro.
- Have an up-to-date grasp of digital technologies and trends.
- Confident communications skills; verbal and written.
- Good understanding of Microsoft programmes, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated team player, with a positive and proactive attitude to work.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage a deadline driven workload.
Desirable
- Full, Clean, Drivers licence
- Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects.
- Experience in using social media platforms such as XPro and Meta Business Studio.
- Interest or experience in the third sector and/or sport.
- Experience in graphic design for social media.
- Experience in motion design for videos.
- Experience of using websites and content management systems.
- Valid driving license.
