Purpose

Established in 1986, City in the Community is the registered charity of Manchester City and exists to empower healthier lives through football. Our programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.

The purpose of this role is to support and deliver fun, engaging sessions on Community Outreach projects across Greater Manchester specifically holiday provision throughout the summer period. Programme delivery includes Football and Multisport sessions as well as Youth Work and educational workshops.

Accountabilities

  1. Planning and delivering fun engaging football and multi-sport sessions for 6–16-year-olds during school holidays
  2. Supporting all elements of holiday provision including breakfast and lunch distribution, and educational workshops while being inclusive of all participants and maintaining high standards of delivery.
  3. Monitoring and observing activities of the group to ensure participants are safe at all times.
  4. Working closely with Lead Coach, Project Officer and Safeguarding Officer to ensure participant needs are being met when at sessions and that interventions are effective.
  5. Ensuring that CITC’s Safeguarding policy and procedures are embedded to the highest standard across the team. Work to ensure that safeguarding practices and principles are adhered to, ensuring our legal and moral obligations towards the framework.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with children and young people or various groups within holiday or community settings.
  • Minimum Level 1 football coaching or Multi-sport.
  • Experience in planning and delivering high-quality sport sessions which are challenging and inclusive to the needs of the group.
  • GCSE’s in English, Maths and Science.
  • Competent across Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Creative and passionate about continuous improvement.
  • Resilient and adaptable to change.
  • Excellent and inclusive team-working abilities.

Desirable

  • Level 2 Coaching Certificate in Football
  • Qualifications in other relevant sports or youth work/mentoring.
  • Experience of supporting participants with Disabilities in a football or sporting environment.
  • Working towards degree-level education in a relevant area e.g., Sports Coaching/Sports Science.
  • Experience and knowledge of working within a brand environment and understanding the responsibilities that are associated with representing a Premier League Football Club
  • FA Safeguarding qualification.
  • Understanding of City in the Community Foundation and its projects.
  • Motivational techniques/skills
  • Youth work experience.
  • Experience in strong behaviour management.
