Overview

Our next generation data platform enables fan genome and real-time personalization to provide fans with the best experience and offerings through bringing in and analyzing data from multiple sources leveraging state of art AI solutions. This role will lead the next generation data platform at MLS.

The Senior Director will be responsible for managing and leading a world class team of engineers, building scalable solutions for data ingestion, processing and analytics that crosscuts data engineering, architecture, and software development subject areas. They will be accountable for leading and growing the data engineering team to build cloud native solutions for data ingestion, processing, and computing at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day to day data engineering and platform team to deliver projects.
  • Manage and mentor team of data engineers.
  • Work cross disciplinary with data management, operation, and security teams to translate the requirements to the execution plan, timelines, and to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.
  • Create data platform strategy and roadmap working closely with executives.
  • Review and sign off on designs, documentation of production grade data pipelines including ingestion, transformation, processing, monitoring, and analytics capabilities while adhering to best practices in software development.
  • Hire and grow the team, manage vendors, .
  • Participate in budgeting and roadmap planning.
  • Instill best engineering practices to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field required.
  • 10+ years related experience, with 8+ years management experience with track record of production grade data processing deployments at scale.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience building and delivering data solutions in cloud platforms.
  • Deep understanding of data architecture patterns, deployment, and quality monitoring strategies.
  • Experience working closely with data management team translating requirements for development and with security and privacy teams to translate requirements for data platforms.
  • Solid CS fundamentals with experience across a range of disciplines, with one or more areas of deep knowledge and experience in an advanced programming language.
  • Working experience of distributed processing systems.
  • Hands-on experience with RDBMS, NoSQL DBs and object storage systems.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, orchestration and transformation, real time streaming, containers, and observability frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data science and machine learning workflows.
  • High-level dedication to a quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity, and compliance.
  • Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written.

Total Rewards

Starting Base Salary: $170,000 – $235,000. MLS/SUM base salaries are contingent upon several factors including individual qualifications, market financials, and operational business needs.
