We are now looking for a Team Lead Disputes that supports us on our mission.

These are your key tasks:

  • Supervising and managing a team of legal counsel to conduct legal proceedings before the Dispute Resolution Chamber and the Players' Status Chamber of the FIFA Football Tribunal
  • Providing legal and administrative support to the Players' Status Chamber and Dispute Resolution Chamber of the FIFA Football Tribunal in accordance with the relevant regulations
  • Interpreting transfer and employment-related contracts within the context of proceedings before the FIFA Football Tribunal
  • Coordinating the production of legal documents to ensure consistency
  • Drafting and supervising publications within the Player's Status Department
  • Researching and analysing the jurisprudence of the FIFA Football Tribunal and Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)
  • Leading a team to develop its independence and self-confidence
  • Motivating, updating, guiding and discussing procedural issues
  • Efficiently finding creative solutions to deal with the workload using a pragmatic and innovative approach
  • Giving written and/or verbal legal advice on the regulations, as well as on general legal issues to players, clubs, member associations, agents, legal advisors, etc.
  • Supporting the Players' Status Department in the matters currently being discussed in the reform of the transfer system
  • Liaising with other FIFA departments
  • Supporting the Litigation Department when needed within the scope of appeals lodged against FIFA's decisions before CAS
  • Organising and/or participating in workshops and presentations about the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players
  • Reporting directly to the Head of Players' Status

The specific competencies we require for this position are:

  • Between five and ten years' post-qualification work experience as a lawyer in an international environment
  • Legal experience in a sports-related environment, in particular the football industry, is an asset
  • University degree in law
  • Specialization in sports law or proven track record within the football industry
  • Bar admission or equivalent qualification
  • Experience with the Transfer Matching System (TMS) is an asset
  • Detail-oriented and a pragmatic approach to solving problems
  • Autonomy and excellence, positively impacting the team's efficiency and performance, resulting in an optimal service to stakeholders
  • Ability to define strategic goals, give clear instructions and lead and empower team members
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate
  • Lateral thinking and willingness to take initiative and responsibility

  • Ability to lead and manage a team, constantly striving to improve the team's efficiency and performance

  • Fluency in at least two FIFA languages (written and oral)
  • Ability to work in all three official working languages (English/French/Spanish) is an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel/Outlook)
  • Familiarity with Jira is an asset
