Reporting organisationally to the Director of Brand & Marketing (FIFA26, Miami) and Head of Digital Marketing (FIFA, Zurich), the Social Media Manager will be a key member of the FIFA26 Brand & Marketing team, collaborating closely with the FIFA HQ Commercial team and other essential stakeholders. This role will be instrumental in executing comprehensive social media strategies to amplify global reach, boost brand visibility, drive engagement, and foster fan interaction across various social platforms. Under the guidance of the Director of Brand & Marketing, the Social Media Manager will oversee social media content creation, community management, influencer partnerships, and analytics, while contributing to the overall brand positioning and digital marketing efforts.

THE POSITION

The main responsibilities and oversights of the Social Media Manager for the FIFA World Cup 26™ include

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with the tournament goals and target audience based on country and consumer audience.
  • Set specific objectives for social media campaigns, such as increasing brand awareness, driving traffic, and boosting engagement, that derive from a fan first approach.
  • Ensure that all social media content aligns with the brand’s voice, tone, and messaging guidelines.
  • Create, curate, and publish engaging and relevant content for social media platforms, including text, images, videos, and other multimedia.
  • Develop content calendars to plan and schedule posts across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and more.
  • Monitor social media platforms for trends, mentions, and relevant conversations about the brand or industry.
  • Use social listening tools to gather insights and trends to report to key stakeholders including marketing, creative, and digital content teams.
  • Track and analyze social media performance using tools like Google Analytics, Sprinklr, native platform analytics, and third-party tools.
  • Prepare and present reports on key metrics such as engagement, reach, follower growth, and ROI, and use insights to optimize strategies.
  • Plan, create, and manage paid social media campaigns to achieve specific marketing objectives, such as lead generation or sales.
  • Monitor and optimize ad performance, adjusting targeting, creative, and budget based on analytics.
  • Identify, manage and collaborate with influencers, brand ambassadors, broadcasters, and partners to amplify social media reach and engagement, ensuring they align with the brand’s values and goals.
  • Stay updated on the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Help execute social media campaigns, including contests, giveaways, and product launches, to drive engagement and achieve marketing goals.
  • Coordinate cross-platform campaigns to ensure consistent messaging and maximize impact.
  • Work closely with marketing, PR, creative services, and other departments to ensure social media efforts support overall business goals.
  • Collaborate with content creators, designers, and copywriters to produce high-quality content.
  • Act as the primary social media liaison between the Zurich-based global team and the US-based event teams.
  • Adjust strategies based on data to improve reach, engagement, and conversion rates.
  • Ensure collaboration and content optimization with other key stakeholders within the Digital Marketing group, including with colleagues working on O&O platforms.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar level of higher education
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategizing social media campaigns for sports teams, paid social, creating social elements, and leadership responsibilities.
  • Ability to understand and execute brand guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Social Media Platforms: Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, LinkedIn and WhatsApp.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written
  • Fluent in English. Spanish and/or French proficiency is a plus.
  • Google Analytics, Keyhole, Canva, Power Point, Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout, Sprinklr, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
