Reporting organisationally to the Head of PMO and Reporting, the PMO & Risk Manager will be a key member of the FIFA26 Planning and Integration team, and work in close collaboration with the FIFA World Cup Project Office and other key individuals responsible for delivering best practice project delivery, providing control and support across several Functional Areas (projects) and work streams in FIFA26 in USA, CAN and MEX. The role will ensure the FIFA World Cup 2026 Project Plan is monitored, dates of milestones and deliverables are adhered to, and projects risks are properly identified, treated and reported.

THE POSITION

The main responsibilities and oversights of the PMO & Risk Manager for the FIFA World Cup 26™ include:

  • Work closely with the FIFA World Cup Project Office and with the relevant FWC26 Functional Areas to implement a project management rigor with the appropriate resources, communication, methods, processes and tools.
  • Act as a partner to the Functional Areas (FA) and support them in the day-to-day demands of Project Management and Risk Management
  • Develop, maintain and implement risk management processes for project activities and outputs, including reviewing project plans and other relevant documentation for quality, providing feedback, guidance to FA leads and members throughout the planning life cycle of the Tournament
  • Develop, maintain and implement appropriate processes to ensure compliance with project management methodology and tools and provide feedback, guidance and coaching where required
  • Implement frameworks and methodologies that ensure management of projects will be comprehensive and consistent across the company
  • Ensure project risks are clearly identified/documented and work with FAs risk management delegates to ensure a mitigation strategy is put in place to manage them
  • Guide and support project/programme managers to prepare and maintain schedules for projects/programme activities and events, considering dependencies and resource requirements
  • Provide reporting and updates to the Head of PMO and Reporting and senior leadership on progress, risks and issues as required
  • Remain flexible in order to support other FIFA26 projects, in addition to those outlined above Ensure information management guidelines are adhered to across the team, regularly conducting checks to ensure Project Plan and document libraries are organised according to company’s guidelines (I.e. archiving, folder hierarchy structure, file names etc.)
  • During the Tournament, the role will transition into coordinating the day-to-day management of the Tournament Headquarters/Main Operations Centre and all aspects related to the resolution of issues and incidents

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or similar level of higher education in business, project management or related field
  • APM, PMI or Prince 2 professional qualification
  • At least 4 years’ experience in risk management and project management
  • Previous experience in a central project/programme management role from more than one major event
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Experience future planning and identification of competing resource demands, timelines
  • Experience in developing and implementing project/programme management methodologies
  • Experience in assessing risk (preferably according to ISO 31000) and advising on mitigation of risks and issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and under pressure
  • Ability to assess levels of risk and ability to implement mitigation measures
  • Ability to work both independently with minimum supervision and cooperatively within a team situation
  • Experience working in a cross-functional, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Ability in managing internal and external stakeholders to build cooperative and positive relationships
