ESL Teacher
POSITION SUMMARY:
Teach English Language Skills to non-native professional athletes, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum and meet the needs of individual students.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare classroom & course materials.
- Assess student progress through regular quizzes, tests, and assignments.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their language skills.
- Create a positive learning environment that promotes active participation, critical thinking, and creativity.
- Use a variety of teaching methods, materials, and technology to engage students and enhance their learning.
- Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and parents to support student learning and development.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Attend professional development workshops and conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest teaching methods and technologies.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend Monthly Rockies Educator Zoom Meetings for collaboration and to discuss overall progress.
- Encourage students/players to practice English daily and participate in student exchanges and field trips.
- Enforce Colorado Rockies Core Values
- Establishes and maintains standards of student/player behaviors to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelorโs degree in education or a related field
- TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification is desired but not required.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of previous teaching experience, preferably in an ESL or EFL context.
- Fluency in English and proficiency in one or more additional languages is an asset.
- Knowledge of various methods of teaching English to non-native speakers
- Knowledge of the culture and customs of the students' home countries is desirable.
- Knowledge of professional baseball is desired but not required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK SCHEDULE:
- This is a seasonal part-time position (avg. 20 โ 25 hours per month) and will include direct ESL Instruction to our Minor League Latin Players. Class sizes are typically 12 to 15 students and will be on a variable schedule.
- Classes are typically in the evenings from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, however, depending on the team schedule, practice times, and game times, the schedule could vary.
- Classes are to be held at our team training facility in Salt River Fields, however, classes may also be held at the team hotel, the Scottsdale Plaza Resort. Zoom classes are to be administered when the team is on a road trip.
- Classes will start in March and end in September.
SALARY RANGE:
- $50 per hour. This is a temporary status, seasonal part-time position not eligible for all company benefits.
