Department: Baseball Operations – Latin Player Development
Job Title: Academy Director, Latin America Operations
Reports To: Assistant Director, Minor League & International Operations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Academy Operations
    • Manage Academy Operations staff.
    • Work with service providers to ensure field maintenance, security, and food all meet MLB and organizational standards.
    • Facilitate timely and accuratpayment of all invoices and bills.
    • Manage petty cash.
    • Oversee all travel arrangements inand out of the Dominican Republicfor players and staff.
    • Assist with housing arrangements in the Dominican Republic for staff.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors.
    • Responsible for all player paperwork including signings, releases, and MLB-mandated forms.
    • Oversee storage room and equipment inventory.
    • Oversee complex maintenance and construction.
    • Responsible for staying up-to-date and adhering to all MLB regulations covering immigration, banks, Academy operations, etc.
  • Immigration
    • Maintain updated records of passports, approval notices, and U.S. and Dominican visas.
    • Help facilitate visa and passport renewal appointments.
  • International Scouting Department
    • Assist with signing bonus payments.
    • Help with travel arrangements when bringing international tryout players to the Dominican Republic.
    • Oversee Dominican visa and immigration needs for international tryout players.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Independent judgment and ability to multitask is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload.
  • High level of interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with wide range of departments, seniority levels and personalities.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work as part of a team.


Experience, Education and Licensure

  • College or university education preferred.
  • Prior working experience at a Major League Baseball Academy in the Dominican Republic preferred.


Requirements:

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
  • Willing to work long, flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Willing to relocate if necessary to meet need of the organization.
