Job Overview:

Chicago Fire Football Club (CFFC) is seeking a dedicated Athletic Trainer to join our team! The Academy Athletic Trainer will be committed to the safety of CFFC’s Academy players, performance team, and designated medical professionals to manage all training needs. This role will also assist CFFC's MLS Next Pro (MLSNP) team and will report directly to the Head Athletic Trainer, MLSNP. The candidate for position should be highly skilled in working with players and possess a strong understanding of sports-related injuries and treatments.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily medical coverage to the Academy teams (U13 – U17) and support the MLSNP athletic training team as needed
  • Act as a Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the health care of players. Health care includes but is not limited to first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, developing rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals
  • Setup, breakdown, field coverage, and clinic coverage as assigned
  • Maintain a complete and up-to-date roster of player health documents
  • Attend medical meetings to discuss reports, player progress, etc.
  • Play an active role in creating a professional environment within the academy through player interactions, maintaining the standard, and driving club culture
  • Provide reports and communicate player updates to authorized personnel, parents, and Safeguard committee members.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills required to work effectively with players, coaches, other team personnel
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of athletic training clinic daily
  • Travel and ability to work weekends/flexible hours required
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training, Physical Therapy, or related health care field
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills
  • Active and valid credentials with BOC & CPR Certification
  • NATABOC (or CATA) Certified Athletic Trainer
  • In good standing with NATABOC and a member of the NATA (or CATA)
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, including all home games (or other work events) that fall on nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy or related health care field from a CAATE recognized school and valid state license
  • Minimum of 1- 2 years’ experience as a certified Athletic Trainer
  • Knowledgeable of Myers Therapy or manual therapy training formation
  • Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Experience
  • Experience with Diathermy Therapy (Tecar Therapy or Winback)
  • Dry needling Experience
