Position Overview

Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is looking for an intern pursuing a human resources career and is open to learning the structure and responsibilities of an HR department within the sports and entertainment industry. This position will rotate throughout the department in the areas of recruiting, benefits, employee engagement and payroll.

This is a paid internship. Interns will be paid $12.00 per hour, with the ability to work thirty (30) hours max per week. The 2024-2025 season program runs from September 9, 2024 through April 25, 2025.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

  • Organize employment materials
  • Maintain spreadsheets for the HR department
  • Communicate with different departments within the company in a professional manner
  • Learn about different employment processes and various compliance requirements
  • Assist with the internship program activities, on-boarding and training programs
  • Perform tasks to establish and maintain employee/payroll records
  • Create and maintain documentation supporting HR processes
  • Conduct other HR operations activities and special projects as required
  • Engage in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadow opportunities and work closely with fellow interns to successfully complete and present the intern project.

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Fantastic communication skills and have the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Proficient numerical skills will be a benefit in this position
  • Possess an attested ability to manage time and prioritize tasks when given clearly defined goals and objectives
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information
  • Be a flexible and reliable member of the team, both within own department and the company as a whole
  • Have the ability to thrive in a rapidly changing, deadline driven environment
  • Presents self in professional manner and has the ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts
  • Ability to work some home games, weeknights and weekends.
