Summary:
The Coordinator, Baseball Initiatives, will report to the Senior Director, Baseball Initiatives and will be responsible for supporting a variety of strategic and operational projects across our Major League Clubhouse and Travel functions and the broader Baseball Operations department. The individual will play a critical role in managing the operational success of our Clubhouse and Travel Operations, including budgeting, logistics, communication, annual planning, etc. This person will play a critical role in operational execution in both the day-to-day as well as more strategic project management and must be comfortable navigating the big picture and the details.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Support the Senior Director, Baseball Initiatives with the budgeting process for relevant cost centers, including Major League Clubhouses, Major League Travel, and Major League Players and Coaches, responsible for tracking key assumptions, budget actuals, and any changes over the course of the year
Support the project management of cross-team initiatives, managing action items, next steps, and follow-ups across various teams to achieve project goals
Develop and manage playbooks for key components of the baseball calendar for Major League/Clubhouse Operations, such as Spring Training, Regular Season, Off-Season, Winter Meetings, and Postseason
Partner closely with the broader Major League Operations team on roster changes and required coordination across impacted teams, including managing checklists and process checks to ensure successful execution
Partner with Minor League Operations to identify areas for continued integration and process improvement between Major League and Minor League
Develop and manage scalable processes to ensure trip and day-to-day success, including pre-trip checklists, process automation, and additional communication updates
Oversee expense and invoice review for relevant departments (ML Travel, ML Players and Staff, and ML Clubhouses) to ensure accuracy and alignment with the budget
Identify and create coach and player-facing resources to provide valuable information on logistics and expectations to support more self-service across the team
Manage long-term housing and auto needs for players and staff in New York and Port St. Lucie, including supporting relationships with external parties
Develop proficiency with the Major League Rules and Regulations and Major League CBA
Qualifications:
2-4 years in management consulting, investment banking, or strategic & operational role
Exceptional project management skills with a track record of scoping projects, managing deliverables, and enabling strong communication across many team members
Extremely detail-oriented and willing to get into the weeds to ensure compliance with MLB policies
Solid understanding of basic financial concepts with ability to develop and track budgets, partner with Finance, and create leadership financial summaries
Experience with leadership presentation development including creating effective PowerPoint presentations
Process-oriented with desire to create new playbooks and workflows to improve operations
Curious problem-solver who continually strives to make operations more efficient, scalable, and better for the organization
Self-starter who can take initiative and manage projects with minimal oversight
Strong communicator and collaborator who is comfortable leading meetings and discussions and working across many different functions
Solid foundational understanding of baseball and the MLB with a strong desire to learn

Salary Range: $60,000 - $83,000
