Position Overview
The Arena Operations Project Manager is part of an integrated team working to ensure the effective utilization of the Spectrum Center Arena. You will work with a team to create and foster an efficient, productive and consistent working relationship among Hornets Sports & Entertainment and its Arena partners; including Jani King, Levy and CRVA in order to foster operational excellence at Spectrum Center.
You are responsible for the overall management of projects from inception to completion. This role involves coordinating resources, managing project timelines and ensuring that project goals align with organizational objectives. You will work closely with internal, external and building partners to ensure successful project delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning and Coordination
- Define project scope, goals and deliverables to support business goals in collaboration with sales and operations.
- Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties and vendors for flawless execution of projects.
- Plan and recommend arena project budget, manage expenditures and report on budget variances for projects you are leading.
- Reconcile the CAPEX balance with CRVA & the City of Charlotte.
- Work with internal HSE departments to develop project needs both short term and long term.
Project Execution and Monitoring
- Manage the day-to-day activities of all ongoing projects in collaboration with HSE departments and building partners.
- Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
- Effectively communicate budgets, timelines, resource allocations, success and challenges as the arise.
- Spectrum Center Renovation Project
- Ensure HSE priorities are communicated effectively.
- Coordinate information sharing and decision making between HSE and the project.
- Liaison between all HSE departments and the project.
- Communicate and facilitate the project timelines.
- Work with ICON and the City of Charlotte on all aspects of construction administration, including budgets, change orders, phasing, timelines and risks.
- Coordinate with project team for on-site construction and building impacts.
- Manage all aspects of Building and internal HSE Projects.
- Work with the CRVA on large building repairs and emergency response plans.
Quality Assurance
- Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
- Conduct project postmortems including future recommendation reporting in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Assist with limited event setup, including but not limited to ensuring the building is event ready and be on-call for emergencies.
Required Skills, Experience and Abilities
To perform the job successfully, you will have or demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
- Bachelorโs degree from an accredited college or university, preferred.
- 4+ years project management experience, including demonstrated success working as a member of a team
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent, preferred.
- Working knowledge of city/county codes and processes for construction, preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable practices and technologies such as renewable energy, waste management, water
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Highly organized, process and detail oriented; strong project management skills.
- High level of dedication to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance.
- Flexibility to adapt to frequently changing work environment and deliver on challenging demands.
- Interpersonal skills โ ability to maintain confidentiality, listens to others and willing to try new ideas.
- Excellent critical reasoning skills with the proven ability to partner across functionally and effectively build links.
- Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely.
- Presents self in professional manner and have ability to interact with all levels of the organization and outside contacts.
- Available to work a variable schedule, including holidays, nights, weekends, and occasional Spectrum Center Events.
