What is the Coach Inclusion & Diversity scheme?

As a part of our commitment to improve the diversity of football coaches in the professional game, we are proud to partner with the Premier League again to support the Coach Inclusion & Diversity scheme for the 2024/25 season. This season, we are encouraging applicants who are goalkeeping coaching specialists aspiring to coach in a professional capacity, so that football better represents the wider communities in which it is played, enjoyed and serves. Having greater diversity helps the club perform better on and off pitch.

The objectives of the scheme:

  • To increase the number of coaches who are from Black, South-Asian and Mixed Heritage backgrounds, including women from all backgrounds in full-time coaching positions in English professional football
  • To provide coaches on the scheme with a fixed-term employment contract and development opportunities within a Premier League or EFL Clubs
  • To substantially improve long-term employment prospects for coaches who complete the scheme
  • To provide each of the coaches with their own development programme to ensure that they are appropriately supported to become successful coaches and visible role models
  • To assist in diversifying the workforce at Premier League or EFL Clubs, promoting a culture of equality, diversity and inclusion

What is the opportunity with Brighton & Hove Albion FC?

The scheme will be on a 23-month fixed term contract with us and will have the opportunity to rotate within a multidisciplinary team across our boy’s and girl’s pathway in a goalkeeping coach role. It is a fully integrated and intensive and is designed to accelerate the successful candidates’ coaching knowledge and ability to better equip them for a sustainable career in full-time coaching. You will be enrolled to the Premier League’s Coach Development Programme which is accredited by Leeds Beckett University. The development programme includes mentoring, workshops, peer learning, projects and access to FA/UEFA qualifications dependent on need.

Your experience and qualifications

Coaches must not have previous experience of holding a full-time coaching role in either a Premier League or EFL club.

Up to date qualification which will need to be achieved before the start of employment:

· UEFA B licence

· UEFA B Goalkeeping (or working towards)

· In-date FA Safeguarding certificate - Safeguarding Children Course | The Boot Room (thefa.com)

· In-date Emergency Aid certificate - Introduction to First Aid in Football | The Boot Room (thefa.com)

· DBS certificate (to be arranged via the club)

The successful applicant must be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
