The role of the Social Media Content Creator

Brentford FC has an exciting opportunity for someone with an in-depth knowledge of social media and football, and a passion for digital content to join our social media team.

In this varied role, you will be helping to shape the Club’s social media strategy, producing high performing digital content, and establishing creative best practice and optimisation across the major social platforms, harnessing trends and growing

Brentford’s social following.

The successful candidate will work within the Content Team and report in to the Social Content Lead.

Main Accountabilities

  • Deliver on and implement the club's social media strategy in collaboration with the Head of Social Media and the Social Content Lead.
  • Capture, edit and create social-first content for Brentford FC's social media channels.
  • Publish and distribute content on the club's social media channels including, in particular, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads and YouTube Shorts.
  • Use a phone to collect and publish vertical content, ensuring high-quality and engaging material.
  • Help maintain the club's tone of voice and brand values on social media.
  • Day-to-day management of club social media channels where appropriate and necessary, in conjunction with other members of the social media team.
  • Work with the partnerships and marketing departments to support campaigns that engage Brentford FC audiences on social media.

Support our community management by engaging with fans, friends and other publishers on social media.

  • Use data and insights to inform content ideation, creation and publishing across social media channels.
  • Ensure that all contact with players complies with the Club’s Safeguarding Policy and that any concerns are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels.

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics

  • Strong knowledge and experience of social media platforms including publishing functionality, best practice and use of insights.
  • Very strong social content editing skills.
  • Comfortable with a variety of content capture tools including phones and more traditional cameras.
  • Ability to use editing tools such as Adobe Creative suite apps.
  • Track record of creating and innovating content for channels with large audiences.
  • Strong communicator, able to clearly express and deliver content ideas for a Premier League football club
  • To be successful in this role, you will have a strong passion, knowledge and interest in football
  • A team-first collaborator, who’s first interest is the success of the Content Team and Club.
  • Comfortable operating in a highly-pressurised and fast-moving environment
  • Flexible and willing to work around the football calendar, including weekends and evenings where necessary.

Person Specification - Desirable Characteristics

  • Previous experience delivering content and a social strategy for a sporting team/organisation or other fast-moving fan-facing environment
  • An understand of key broader marketing principles or experience in a marketing- led role would be an advantage
