The Dining Room Manager position is responsible for leading the front-of-house team of The Underground and collaborating with the Chef de Cuisine to ensure expectations are met for ownership, family members, management, and hockey and basketball operations. We are known for delivering excellence in all areas of service, hospitality, food, and beverage. The Dining Room Manager will have a passion for customer service and proven ability as a manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be an innovator and a creator
- Be present at all Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club events
- Ensure staff uniforms are clean for each event
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create seamless flow and exceptional services from the kitchen to the dining room
- Daily leadership of team members to execute all operational needs
- Streamline processes to improve guest experience
- Create front-of-house staff schedules
- Manage finances and labor budgets
- Make use of Square POS technology for floor plans, ordering, reports, and more
- Training and hiring staff to explain and serve all menu items
- Respond to guest feedback/complaints in an efficient manner with sensitivity and care
- Taking inventory and placing orders for supplies
- Facilitate good standing relationships with vendors and purveyors
- Ensuring best practices are met for safety and cleanliness
- Confirm deliveries are received and put away in a timely manner
- Specialty product procurement; ie: grocery store runs, Amazon orders, etc
- Research new vendors and regularly review product quality
- Utilize effective communication with staff, including electronic communication (email, Google Calendar, slack, etc)
- Conduct disciplinary action as needed and biannual performance reviews
- All other duties as assigned by the Owner, VP of Nutrition, and Executive Chef
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of experience in kitchen/hospitality
- 5+ years of management experience
- In-depth knowledge of food principles and best practices
- Passion for providing excellent customer service
- Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety
- Servsafe certified
