The Utah Jazz are seeking a Basketball Operations Intern to support the basketball operations staff. This role will be integral to running the day-to-day operations of the front office, supporting the basketball operations, scouting, strategy, analytics, and administrative groups with daily tasks. A working knowledge of basketball as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills are key to success in this role. This is a seasonal position beginning in May and ending in July.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily basketball operations, scouting, strategy, analytics, and administrative tasks.
  • Work with the scouting staff on logistical operations and scheduling.
  • Organize and maintain internal documents and materials for basketball operations staff.
  • General scouting database support, including data entry and inventory management.
  • Organize and take notes during staff meetings and conference calls.
  • Transportation support for players, front office members, coaches, and guests (airport pickups, hotel drop-offs, etc.).
  • Miscellaneous projects, such as video scouting, local scouting, and other basketball operations projects.
  • General support for all departments within basketball operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional work experience required.
  • Experience working in the NBA or professional/collegiate sports is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, and a fast typing ability.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong operational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload.
  • Highly organized with a robust attention to detail.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and problem solve independently.
  • Possess an excellent sense of discretion and professionalism with highly confidential information.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.

Physical Demands

  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate and assess.
  • This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
  • This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
