The Tampa Bay Rays seek exceptional people with a passion for baseball and helping others to serve in the position of Affiliate Clubhouse Manager (Montgomery Biscuits). This role will function with our organization during the Minor League championship season, as well as participate in spring training and other offseason player programs throughout the year. Responsibilities include representing the Tampa Bay Rays in a professional and responsible way, managing the affiliate clubhouse and maintaining a best-in-class locker room. This role will also have significant responsibilities to support and positively impact our player nutrition program and team logistics. Collaboration, professionalism and attention to detail are the three key attributes of the person hired for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in spring training (Port Charlotte, FL) and off-season player programs as needed under the direction of the Minor League Equipment Manager.
  • Take ownership in the maintenance and upkeep of a best-in-class clubhouse with a focus on cleanliness and efficiency, to ensure compliance with the Cleaning and Sanitation Protocols developed in accordance with the Facility Standards and Player Health and Wellness Standards contained in the PDL Operating Guidelines. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Vacuuming the entire clubhouse, emptying all trash cans and removing all trash from the clubhouse.
    • Thoroughly sanitizing home clubhouse areas, dressing areas, food preparation and consumption areas, shower and toilet facilities, training rooms, manager offices etc. following each home game. Supervise clubhouse assistant responsible for visiting clubhouse and umpire room.
  • Coordinate with Montgomery office staff to have a professional quality cleaning of all carpets in clubhouse areas at least once per month during the playing season.
  • Properly issue, clean, store and inventory all Rays equipment at the affiliate.
  • Appropriately fulfill baseball-related requests from Rays staff and players.
  • Anticipate and satisfy the needs of the team and the clubhouse space overall.
  • Responsible for all incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
  • Partner closely with Rays sport dietitians and follow their lead to deliver exceptional nutrition services and execute catering. Serve as another set of eyes to support player performance and wellness staff in their responsibility to ensure food is served in a safe way. Collaborate with home caterer, sport RD and Performance Science intern to facilitate meal deliveries for post-BP and post-game meals. Support efforts to manage home clubhouse snack inventory.
  • Manage and execute processes for cleaning and laundry responsibilities throughout the day and after games. This includes cleaning team uniforms, laundry for on-field personnel and towels on a daily basis, as well as cleaning and polishing one pair of shoes per player, coach and manager per day.
  • Be visible and proactive in providing general support at all times for players and staff commencing with the teamโ€™s arrival and lasting until post-game departure.
  • Coordinate and assist with the teamโ€™s arrival and post-game departure.
  • Stock dugouts and bullpen areas with seeds, gum and cups; toiletries in the bathrooms and shower areas; and provide trainers with towels during the game.
  • Supervise any part-time clubhouse staff through their gameday responsibilities.
  • Assist Rays staff with logistics of player movement when transactions take place during the championship season. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Packing, shipping and receiving equipment and personal items at the team facility and affiliate housing site.
    • Collect/distribute keys to units at affiliate housing site when player movement occurs, as directed by Manager, Team Travel & Logistics.
    • Support ground logistics of player movement upon request. Assist with shipping or receiving player/staff vehicles.
  • Use team-issued credit card for approved purchases and coordinate with accounts payable to properly document and code expenses in a timely manner.
  • High expectations of being a good partner in handling requests of the clubhouse from the Montgomery affiliate, including but not limited to assisting with community requests.

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Willingness and availability to work the baseball schedule and team unloads, which will often consist of late nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Travel will be required to Spring Training, offseason programs and potentially away games during the championship season as needed.
