Sporting Kansas City is looking for a Stadium Systems Engineer to support and maintain all professional broadcast and stadium systems equipment at Children’s Mercy Park. The ideal candidate will bring deep subject matter knowledge of broadcast control room positions and a desire to learn and mentor others along the way. The position is to be a key contributor to the company purpose of ‘creating memories for our fans through personalized experiences with our club.’

Essential Functions

  • Be the primary caretaker of the professional broadcast equipment and A/V systems at Children’s Mercy Park and Satellite Facilities.
  • Ensure all equipment remains event ready, is properly setup and tested prior to use, and regularly monitored to remain functional or addressed immediately so service quality is never interrupted. Maintain knowledge and execute software updates and patches of broadcast and A/V equipment across all facilities
  • Ensure all physical A/V spaces and/or storage structures utilized (e.g.: control room, audio booth, racks, cabinets, storage closets, cases, conduits, channels, carts, bags, etc.) remain in professional, safe, and functional cleanliness and order.
  • Primary point of contact with MLS for Apple TV broadcasts and VAR technology.
  • Ownership and maintenance of operational and workflow aspects of video and audio control systems (routers, cameras, Ross, DreamCatcher, Daktronics, video displays, VITEC IPTV system, etc.)
  • Train event day staff on proper operation of A/V equipment.
  • Coordinates all pre-event video and audio equipment checks / tests for operational readiness and execution.
  • Work with integrators and consultants to install and maintain A/V equipment
  • Research and make long-term hardware/software recommendations, capital expenditure planning for all A/V technology needs
  • Manage, log and track all Stadium A/V inventory and wiring diagrams
  • Serve as the point of contact for all SKC events relating to broadcast A/V needs
  • Facilitate cable installations, maintenance, and removal projects
  • Respond to systems and equipment outages, malfunctions, and related A/V technical problems across all facilities. Perform preventive maintenance and/or troubleshooting on a large variety of systems.
  • Assist match presentation department in realizing their vision through technical support
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure content delivery is up to Sporting’s standards.
  • Always represent Sporting Kansas City and its affiliated divisions in a professional manner
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent technical degree in video/broadcast engineering, broadcast operations or other related disciplines required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in video and broadcast production or sports/venue production & engineering
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in managing a control room and its related systems (Ross Dashboard, Xpression, Carbonite Switcher, Evertz DreamCatcher, Dante audio, IPTV, Sony cameras, Q-sys)
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast signal flows and connections.
  • Experience managing broadcast and A/V staff in a live entertainment venue.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience maintaining large video display systems
  • On top of emerging trends and equipment advances.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Calendar
