RATE: $30 -32/hour

POSITION SUMMARY

Sounders FC is searching for a dynamic performance dietitian to contract with the team. We are looking for someone who understands the demands placed on an elite footballer. This influential person will need to seamlessly connect with players and integrate with our performance and medical staff to add to our culture of excellence every day. Utilizing a deep understanding of scientific best practices and the real-world applications in sport will allow this practitioner to excel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess and analyze dietary habits, body composition, blood work, and energy balance of all professional players with regard to athletic performance.
  • Work with team admins and performance staff to coordinate and provide nutritional guidance for meals around training and games.
  • Work with team admins, chefs, and caterers to coordinate breakfast, lunch, and post-game meals.
  • Work with all players to individualize nutrition strategies based on consultation feedback, individual goals, and individual dietary needs.
  • Work with athletic trainers to determine individual athlete needs and provide appropriate nutrition strategies via supplements.
  • Work with individual athletes to monitor the use of supplements, while promoting the NSF Certified for Sport products.
  • Oversee and manage food and supplement ordering and distribution for the whole club.
  • Oversee a club wide nutrition philosophy and practices while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Stay up to date on scientific research and trends with regards to sports nutrition.
  • Work with Tacoma Defiance and Academy to implement nutrition protocols and education.
  • Manage distribution and creation of performance nutrition education through documents, presentations, digital communication, and other various teaching methods.
  • Maintain effective communication regarding athlete nutrition with the performance coaches and athletic trainers.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Performance in the development and growth of the Sounders FC Nutrition Program.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in clinical nutrition, food and nutrition, food science, sports nutrition or related expertise required
  • Registered Dietitian required
  • 2+ years of experience as a Sports Dietitian within a professional, private, or collegiate program
  • ISAK Accredited
  • Ability to accurately measure and assess body composition
  • Knowledge of food service quality and safety practices
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and counseling skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and record keeping abilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in nutrition, food science, or exercise physiology preferred
  • Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Portuguese/French).
  • Experience preparing food in a professional kitchen.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position will work in-person 2-3 days onsite at the Sounders FC Headquarters & training facility in Renton, WA.
  • Must reside within Washington state upon date of hire.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to busy athletic facility areas, outside weather conditions and loud noise levels. May require standing on feet for long periods of time, as well as some heavy lifting (20+ pounds).
