About the San Jose Earthquakes:

The San Jose Earthquakes have a mission to establish our home as the epicenter of American soccer by uniting Northern California with big dreams, big hustle, and big impact. We are seeking a Social Media Coordinator who can grow the Earthquakes social media presence and act as the main online communication arm for the club โ€“ which is critical to that mission.

About the Position:

The Social Media Coordinator will work in the marketing department of the San Jose Earthquakes reporting to the Digital Marketing Director; and will focus on scheduling and creating content for the clubโ€™s digital assets (sjearthquakes.com, social media platforms, etc.).

This person will work closely with the Digital Marketing Director and Digital Marketing Coordinator; and will be responsible for creating original content (timely social post ideation, short form videos, TikTok videos, written articles, features, photos of players, etc.) for the website and social properties. Responsible for scheduling & publishing social content, the Social Media Coordinator will look to grow social followers across all platforms, fan engagement with timely, unique, and interesting content, while also ensuring our fans are provided with the latest club information on match days.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all social platforms for the Quakes and PayPal Park and maintain a social media strategy for all content, promotions, marketing, and sales initiatives.
  • Create and distribute content for Earthquakes social media, including but not limited to: Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Facebook, and other emerging platforms.
  • Help manage social content calendar and use analytics to test, support and drive evolution of social content and engagement strategy.
  • Work creatively with the Digital Marketing Team to increase fan engagement on social networks.
  • Collaborate with Creative Services Team to create video/photo content for sjearthquakes.com and social platforms.
  • Maintain awareness of latest digital rules, guidelines, trends, campaigns, and storytelling techniques.
  • Provide live coverage of San Jose Earthquakes matches via social media.
  • Manage social media contests, promotions, and giveaways.
  • Travel with team on the road on occasion.
  • Use the latest analytical tools as a basis to develop new digital initiatives and content.
  • Assist in monthly social reporting and analytics.
  • Interview players and coaches for written and video content.
  • Create and execute in-stadium social initiatives to increase fan engagement.
  • Oversee and monitor all social media handles on game day.
  • Develop skills in Adobe Creative Suite with courses.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years experience in the digital media/social media industry.
  • Knowledge of social media trends and high-level cultural moments spanning sports and entertainment.
  • Strength in storytelling and creative activation across social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Passion for customer service and desire to cater to internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Prior experience working with Adobe Creative Suite encouraged.
  • Passion for world soccer, and strong knowledge of the San Jose Earthquakes and MLS.
  • Self-starter motivated to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-oriented workplace.
  • Team and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work and travel non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (this position will require working most weekends throughout the MLS season).

Salary: $55,000 annually
