Job Description: The Pittsburgh Penguins seek a driven Business Intelligence Analyst Fellow passionate about data-driven decision-making for a year-long program. The Fellow will contribute to key Business Intelligence and Analytics initiatives using data and technology and collaborate with other business operations stakeholders to analyze key business metrics. This fellowship position is a mix of analytical and operational responsibilities, will focus primarily on ticket sales and fan data-related initiatives to drive insights and identify revenue opportunities.

In addition to the duties described above, the Business Intelligence Analyst Fellow will also participate in the Penguins’ exclusive Leadership Development Program. This program will provide regular opportunities for professional development, exposure to organizational leadership, and the ability to develop skills critical for the Fellow’s future career growth. A fundamental part of the program will include clearly defined goals between the Fellow and their Supervisor that will be tracked and measured for progress throughout the term of the program.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Use technical and statistical methods to develop key insights and processes to support decision making across different business units including ticket sales, CRM, sponsorship, marketing, and digital.
  • Utilize Tableau to create executive level dashboards
  • Analyze fan related data as it relates to demographics, psychographics, behavior and historical trends
  • Develop and apply statistical models to business processes
  • Help facilitate A/B testing implementation and analysis
  • Develop fan facing surveys and analyze survey data
  • Maintain complex datasets with a focus on automated solutions
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Business, or Mathematical field
  • Some experience in a consulting, analyst, or similar role preferred (internship or full-time position)
  • Programming experience (SQL preferred, R/Python a plus)
  • Familiarity with business intelligence platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Domo, Excel)
  • Experience working in a data warehouse environment and/or with relational databases
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate findings from complex data analysis
  • Strong work ethic and professional decorum
