People & Culture (Human Resources) Business Partner

The People & Culture Business Partner will support the day-to-day operations of Arena Operations. The Arena operations team manages the Footprint Center and includes areas of the business such as Booking, Ticket Office, Maintenance, Event Services and A/V. This role will also work to help support our third part vendors in onboarding, training and compliance. This position will provide support in organizational strategy/support, employee relations, benefits, wellness, recruiting/onboarding, performance management, compensation, compliance and training.

What You Will Do:

  • Partner with the Sr. Business Partner, People & Culture to analyze organizational capabilities, drive organizational design and structure improvements to support delivery of the current and future business strategy
  • Work closely with management and team members to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to leaders (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Provide counsel and facilitate conflict resolution to address issues for both employees and managers in a manner consistent with company policies, practices and legal considerations
  • Develop and implement human resources programs, policies and processes throughout the organization
  • Build and develop managers and team members through training and development
  • Manage the exit process including conducting exit interviews, analyzing data trends and outplacement
  • Manage new hire monthly reporting and maintain other records, reports and logs pertaining to HR compliance
  • Update Employee Handbook and policies as needed
  • Lead specific HR Projects and/or Implementations
  • Demonstrate commitment to the process of continuous improvement through individual and team-focused goals and activities
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance

What We Need from our Partner:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, talent acquisition, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Capable of understanding and working with in sensitive and confidential data and circumstances
  • Ability to work with individuals at all levels, including part-time, full-time, management and executive positions
  • Ability to represent the organization with internal and external customers/employees
  • Demonstrates a flexible but consistent manner in handling employee relations issues while keeping legal considerations in mind
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and relationships and problem solve with employees and management
  • Maintain an elevated level of confidentiality for employee issues and records
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Post-graduate degree, training and/or HR certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years generalist human resources experience; 3 years at an exempt level required.
  • Business partnership with organizational leaders
  • Experience working with non-exempt associates (Salaried non-exempt and hourly)
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
  • Ability to work on site - this is not a remote position

  • This position has a variable schedule based on Arena needs which may include evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs dictate. When work is required on evenings, or weekends this position can flex to take other days off during the week
  • Local travel may be required for work related events, some overnight travel may be required for training (<5%)
  • This position works mainly indoors, removed from extreme weather; exposure to weather is <5%
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible about of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met
  • Position is predominately computer based, requiring the use of a computer monitor
  • Must be able to carry a conversation both on the phone and in person
  • Ability to read, write & speak in English
