ABOUT OUR COMPANY
Philadelphia was awarded the 16th Major League Soccer franchise in February, 2008 and the team was officially announced as the Philadelphia Union in May, 2009. Owned and operated by Union Sports and Entertainment, the group launched the Philadelphia Union's inaugural season in 2010 and opened what is now Subaru Park in June, 2010. Subaru Park is an 18,500 seat, world-class soccer specific stadium that sits beautifully along the Delaware River at the base of the Commodore Barry Bridge and is only 15 miles from downtown Philadelphia.

The club has reached the finals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2014, 2015 and 2018, and has appeared in the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2011, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, securing their first showing in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2021. The 2022 season finished at the MLS Cup against LAFC, in one of the most intense matches in League history!

ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Philadelphia Union is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Broadcast and Video Production to lead our creative video and broadcast team in producing compelling video content. In this role, you will manage the Union’s in-house production department, leading a team of producers creating compelling and high-quality video content across broadcast, in-stadium, and digital platforms. You will oversee all aspects of video production including concept development, pre-production, filming, editing, and distribution across various platforms. You will also oversee our weekly magazine tv series and game day radio broadcast.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the day-to-day management of all video production staff to create engaging and impactful video content.
  • Drive strategic vision and content plan of the department to align with the marketing team’s goals and strategy.
  • Develop and oversee the department’s budget for production equipment, outsourced production, radio and television talent, contract labor, and all other areas of operation.
  • Collaborate closely with various departments, including communications, digital, and sponsorship, to understand their goals and deliver video content that supports their initiatives.
  • Manage content production strategy and serve as lead producer on high-impact projects (season hype videos, theme nights, marketing campaigns, playoff hype, etc.) including scouting locations, hiring talent, managing production schedules, and overseeing equipment logistics.
  • Oversee gameday radio production and work with the Broadcast Manager to ensure proper execution of game broadcast.
  • Manage weekly-update television show with the Broadcast Manager to ensure proper content and delivery.
  • Oversee media asset management and logging process of archival storage.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and mentor current department staff
  • Plan and execute annual media day with Union players and staff for in-stadium, broadcast, and digital channel seasonal content.
  • Manage relationships with production companies and third party agencies.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in video production, technology, and storytelling techniques, and integrate innovative ideas into our content strategy.
  • Act as MLS Season Pass on Apple TV club point of contact to ensure proper content delivery.


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Minimum of five to seven (5-7) years working in a post-production agency, collegiate, or professional sports organization required. Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Advanced knowledge of non-linear editing software (Adobe Creative Suite preferred)
  • Advanced skills with professional cinema style cameras (RED, Sony FS/FX series)
  • Strong time management skills with ability to hit deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks in a high-energy environment.
  • Advanced experience in creative script writing.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to produce high-quality, accurate work within designated deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Advanced creativity in color correction, visual effects, music and sound design.
  • Passion for soccer and a deep understanding of the sports industry and fan culture.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required, particularly during the soccer season.
