Jr. Graphic Designer/Print Production Assistant

Summary:

The Jr. Graphic Designer/Print Production Assistant will be responsible for creating graphics, particularly for print for the suite of brands that fall under the Comcast Spectacor umbrella (Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia Wings, Wells Fargo Center, SEE, Flyers Charities).

This role will also assist in our print production office, and work in close collaboration with the Print Production Manager as well as the graphic design team, and report directly to the VP, Content & Digital Marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and create graphics for both digital and print mediums for the suite of brands that fall under the Comcast Spectacor umbrella.
  • Design print collateral as requests come in.
  • Prepare final layout for print and work with Print Production Manager to execute print jobs.
  • Assist the Print Production Manager with overflow projects in the internal print production office, as well as step in when the Print Production Manager is unavailable.
  • Uphold Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia Wings, and Wells Fargo Center brand strategy, vision, creative standards, and guidelines.
  • Maintain an active and consistent overview of trends and/or tools/plug-ins necessary for the Flyers, Wings, and Wells Fargo Center to remain on the cutting edge of visual graphics.
  • All other tasks as assigned or necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience with graphic design in a professional work environment; experience in sports and entertainment is a plus.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite on Mac platform, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom and After Effects.
  • Understanding of composition, executing thoughtful and creative designs, and following brand guidelines.
  • Previous experience working in print production and/or a print shop preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with daily deadlines and changing landscapes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends and select holidays is required.

Intellectual/Social demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

Physical demands:

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.

Work environment:

The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-even times.
