Job Description:

Summary:
The Biomechanics Associate will oversee the operation of an in-game motion capture system during each Syracuse Mets home game. Additionally, they will prepare reports and handle biomechanics-related inquiries from the coaching and performance staff. This role involves close collaboration with Syracuse coaching and performance teams, as well as Sports Scientists and Biomechanics Engineers. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a clinical, elite sports, or industrial biomechanics lab, along with programming skills for analyzing and visualizing biomechanics data.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate in-game motion capture system during each Syracuse Mets home game.

  • Prepare biomechanical reports in conjunction with Sports Science staff members to coaches and performance staff.

  • Assist Sports Science, Scouting, Player Development, Coaching, and Analytics departments to apply biomechanics principles across the organization.

  • Assist the Performance Technology team with study design, statistical analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data mining and experimental research.

  • Assist in biomechanics data collection sessions

Qualifications:

  • B.S./M.S. in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Previous experience working in a clinical, elite sport, or biomechanics lab setting, consisting of motion capture equipment, force plates, and EMG.

  • Hands-on experience with performance technology including GPS, IMUs, and Force Plates is a plus.

  • Previous experience working with and contributing to internally developed software in MATLAB, C, R, Python, or another similar programming language.

  • Proficiency in data science, including previous experience applying statistical methods and visualizing large biomechanics datasets.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills (graphical, written, and verbal).

  • Previous experience with applying holistic datasets to decisions that optimize human performance (including range-of-motion, strength, speed, and workload information).

Hourly Rate: $18.15 - $21.00
