Our Game Plan

The New York Islanders Hockey Club is one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports, with a deeply passionate and loyal fan base that is second to none. Built on a Dynasty in the 1980’s with four straight Stanley Cup Championships, our history is what will propel us into the future, confidently assuming a position of strength in the sports, entertainment, and cultural landscape.


Our home at UBS Arena at Belmont Park, which was built for hockey and made for music, cements our brand into the very foundation of New York. To be a part of living history, with the glory of the past fueling the drive for our fifth Stanley Cup.


How to Make the Team

Our Interns bring exceptional amateur hockey knowledge and skills with a strong work ethic. This role will focus on creative thinking, on ice experience and requires that the person is able to work collaboratively and independently to reach the department goals. This position also requires a high degree of personal integrity, timeliness, workload prioritization and exceptional problem-solving skills.

Show Us You Can

  • Assist with and maintain the amateur hockey database
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of all amateur hockey programs, including, but not limited to:
    1. Islanders Learn to Play, Islanders Quebec Hockey Team, Lighthouse International Youth Hockey Tournament, Islanders Youth Hockey Jamboree, In Game Amateur Hockey promotion, Mini 1 on 1 event and more
  • Assist with the registration of participants for all amateur hockey programs
  • Photograph all program sessions for use on the New York Islanders website and marketing materials; photography skills can be taught
  • Attend ICE (Islanders Community Events) Tour happenings to promote amateur hockey programs
  • Office duties
  • Assist in building relationships with participating parents and families, and attend programs
  • Research and present new trends, pop culture references and video clips to enhance the game experience
  • Survey fan focused research and feedback to evolve the game presentation
  • Think creatively and contribute to the overall department goals
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and collaborate


Your Training & Talent

  • Awareness of and interest of the game of hockey- understanding the development process from 6 years old and up
  • Skates and Helmet- skills to be able to jump on the ice and participate in programming
  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Microsoft Office skills


Where You’ll Go

  • You will primarily report to our Floral Park, NY office, Northwell Health Ice Center, Iceworks, and numerous rinks across the island.
  • Attending home games and other team events (events can fall on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays)
