Our Game Plan

The New York Islanders Hockey Club is one of the most iconic franchises in professional sports, with a deeply passionate and loyal fan base that is second to none. Built on a Dynasty in the 1980’s with four straight Stanley Cup Championships, our history is what will propel us into the future, confidently assuming a position of strength in the sports, entertainment, and cultural landscape.

Our home at UBS Arena at Belmont Park, which was built for hockey and made for music, cements our brand into the very foundation of New York. We have always carved our own path, and to our fans the Islanders are a way for people to be a part of something greater than themselves. To be a part of living history, with the glory of the past fueling the drive for our fifth Stanley Cup.

Energy Team!

Our Energy Team members take part in various promotions both on and off the ice to help motivate our fans during home games, at events throughout the community, viewing parties, and other social outings. If you have a great attitude, want to work with a legendary sports organization, possess endless positive energy, love to make people smile, and/ or are simply known as “the life of the party” …we want to hear from you!

All applicants must be at least 18 years old and within driving distance of the New York Metro. All positions are part time, but those selected must be able to attend all Energy Team practices and the majority Islanders home games during the 2024-2025 season.

Who is the Energy Team?

Introducing the official team motivators and performance entertainers for Isles Nation! They're dedicated to enhancing the fan experience by delivering top-tier performances. We're seeking diverse experienced entertainers who exude confidence, high energy, and athleticism to serve as the ultimate ambassadors for the New York Islanders.

We want the most talented performers, dancers, breakers, tumblers, cheerleaders and high-spirited motivators to join our reimagined team.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid ID
• Must reside or be willing to commute to the Nassau County, Long Island area and have a reliable means of transportation
• Must be extremely outgoing, willing to interact with Islanders Fans of all ages at every game and community appearance, and comfortable in front of large crowds
• Must have a flexible schedule to attend games (weeknights and weekends- including playoffs), all rehearsals, and holidays as required
• Bring your own water & food

Things to Know

• If selected for the team, a one-year contract and commitment are required, along with agreement to abide by rules and regulations in the employee handbook.
• The role is a part-time seasonal position and team members are paid for all work. This includes, rehearsals, game days, appearances, photoshoots, meetings, etc.
• The Energy Team’s primary purpose is to welcome and engage fans with their energetic, outgoing personality, and cheerful spirit. Help execute interactive promotions, selection of contestants for contests, pre-game & post-game performances, t-shirt tosses, enhance the production and execution of promotions during games, collect fan feedback and be a team player.

  • Evaluated throughout the audition process

Fill Out an Application

Applications can be submitted at this link beginning on July 2nd up until August 2nd at 5 p.m. ET. All candidates who pass the initial application phase will be notified with the next steps via email.

Video Submission

Your submission has two parts. Here are the instructions (Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed):

1. Application submission link, which will include:
   • Your contact information
   • Specify Talent Interest: Team Motivator, Team Motivator & Performer, Mascot Handler
   • Resume and 3 professional references
   • Headshot photo uploaded (wear clothing of your choice, no hats, or sunglasses)
2. Video submission must not exceed 1:30. All recorded material should be recent.
   • 30 second Introduction: We want to see your personality!
     • Full name, age, hometown, what makes you unique?
   • 60 seconds skills highlight reel
     • Preferred genre of movement, freestyle, breaking, tumbling – highest level of standing/running tumbling pass
3. Video Location
   • Make the best of your filming environment, even if it's just your home or backyard. Keep backgrounds uncluttered so we can focus on you. When filming tumbling, stick to surfaces like grass, basketball courts, or dance floors. Avoid spring floors if you're tumbling.
4. Video Technical Requirements
   • Please only submit one video file, not multiple. Video must be continuous and NOT EDITED TOGETHER.
   • Video must be new, created only for this audition, and not previously recorded.
   • Title the video with first and last name – 2024-2025

You may be asked to demonstrate skills at in-person audition. Please come prepared.

Non-dancers and non-tumblers are still encouraged to apply. Please show 10-15 seconds of spiriting/rallying
