TOC Coordinator

Summary

The TOC Operator will perform multiple job functions and ensure that all technical facility requests are met. Works closely with NFL Media Production team, Newsroom personnel, NFL Films Technical Operations, Encompass Atlanta Technical Operation, and members of all 32 NFL Clubs to ensure all video content is received and distributed to broadcast specifications.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the generation of broadcast reports as required

  • Works closely with Engineering to troubleshoot all issues that may occur with a feed or broadcast

  • Communicates with NFL Network Master Control during live broadcasts to ensure signal continuity

  • Works closely with Remote Operations team for the proper transmission and receipt of feeds for live remote network productions including NFL Network Games, Super Bowl, NFL Combine, NFL Draft, Hall of Fame Enshrinement, and any other NFL Network remote projects

  • The TOC operator is the first point of troubleshooting and escalation if an issue occurs and will be expected to communicate issues to Operations and Production Management in a timely and efficient manner

Required Education and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 yearsโ€™ experience in a broadcast operations environment including 2110, HD/SD, ASI, JPEG and MPLS signals and the ability to troubleshoot of those signal paths

  • Demonstrate knowledge and operation of broadcast routing systems, including split routes as required

  • Ability to read digital & analog waveform monitors and how to set up test bars.

  • Ability to read audio meters

  • Must have strong understanding of analog, digital and SMPTE 2110 signal flows

  • Must be able to perform Sync and Fax checks prior to live shows and events

  • Ability to perform extensive transmission checks prior to live remote events

  • Booking and goodnight procedures for The Switch, Lumen Fiber and Satellite orders

  • Strong understanding of common broadcast signal problems and how to rectify them, i.e. audio levels or distortion, sync issues, video issues

  • Familiarity with EVS IP Director ingest server systems

Other Key Attributes / Characteristics

  • Must possess above average writing skills to document on-air issues

  • Requires strong oral and written skills, including excellent telephone etiquette

  • Requires strong organizational skills to ensure high broadcast quality on multiple feeds

  • Must be willing to adapt in a quickly changing environment

Salary / Pay Range
