POSITION OVERVIEW:

Nashville SC is actively seeking a professional and dependable 2nd Assistant of Grounds to assist the Director of Grounds in supervising and lead all daily maintenance operations for the Nashville SC academy facility. In this role, you will be the lead groundskeeper to ensure that all necessary maintenance of the Nashville SC Academy facility is completed, assist in managing an operating budget, and communicate with Nashville SC technical staff (including coaches, trainers and equipment managers) as it pertains to the Nashville SC academy facility. This position will also ensure that all playing, and practice surfaces meet Club, MLS, and FIFA standards. This position will also provide support at Geodis Park- including but not limited to Nashville SC’s trainings, home matches, concerts, and football games.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain 6 acres of natural grass, as well as one synthetic field, at the academy facility while also aiding in the maintenance at Geodis Park used for various events - including but not limited to Nashville SC’s home matches, concerts, football games and rugby matches.
  • Complete preventive maintenance on various pieces of equipment and ensure all equipment remains in working and operational condition.
  • Keep up-to-date and accurate records of chemical applications.
  • Assist in managing and training crew members in the proper use of equipment, tools, chemicals, and their applications.
  • Complete projects and special assignments within budgets as directed by the Director of Grounds
  • Assist in making precise and timely decisions that affect field conditions.
  • Consistently monitor weather conditions and make proactive decisions to meet safety and field maintenance standards.
  • Maintain daily field maintenance and make suggestions for any improvements as necessary.
  • Perform other duties to support the Nashville SC academy facility and Geodis Park.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in Turf Management, Horticulture, or Plant Science.
  • 2 years relevant work experience in maintaining professional quality sports fields.
  • Experience working with transition zone turfgrass species. (preferred)
  • Ability to obtain a Tennessee pesticide applicators license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, knowledge of current technologies and commitment to remain up to date with industry best practices.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Hours are variable and will include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays in addition to the traditional Monday through Friday hours.
  • Ability to work in various degrees of outdoor weather conditions, including but not limited to, extreme heat and cold or rain.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday.
  • Ability to work in various positions, including but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time.
