Job Title: Manager, Facility Operations

Department: Operations

Job Reports To: Director, Facility Operations

Status: Exempt

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Manage the Operations Department part-time staff. These duties include but are not limited to: interviewing and onboarding candidates, scheduling, approving payroll, implementing training programs, resolving conflict, and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Develop and train ice personnel including ice re-surfacing operators and staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the practice and procedures related to ice installation, preparation and maintenance; typical methods and techniques for maintaining, repairing and building ice.
  • Train the operations department employees on operating procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, emergency plans and safety management policies.
  • Help to install and maintain an NHL quality ice surface and maintain the ice maintenance equipment.
  • Oversee facility event set-ups to ensure timeliness, completion, accuracy, and safety.

โ€ข Keep the operations storage and work areas clean, organized and safe.

  • Maintain the inside and outside of building.
  • Appropriately staff building for day-to-day operations and events.
  • Schedule all part time operations staff using current scheduling software program.
  • Assist in making sure the building is kept clean and sanitized daily.
  • Work with Event Coordinator to set up for birthday parties and other special events.
  • Assist in executing ice programming schedule.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 18+ years of age
  • High School graduate or GED
  • Minimum of 2-4 years related experience in public assembly facility management.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a similar supervisory or management position.
  • Possess basic working knowledge of facilities including HVAC, electrical, lighting, audio visual and mechanical systems.
  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills and be a strategic thinker and planner
  • Possess interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • As a condition of employment, qualified applicants will be subject to a background check, including driving history and character references.
  • Possess a valid driverโ€™s license, possess a suitable driving history and be insurable by our insurance carrier (without conditions).

Preferred Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Certified Ice Technician designation (U.S. Ice Rink Association or ORFA equivalent)
  • Experience maintaining a facility or ice surface at a collegiate or professional level

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work long and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to respond to visual and audible alarms from building automation and life safety systems.
  • Capable of carrying and climbing portable and fixed ladders, accessing remote areas of the facility and working with hand and power tools, communicating via portable radio, reading and comprehending blueprints and drawings.

Equipment Used:

  • PC and other general office equipment.
  • Various power and hand tools.
  • Forklift, Zamboni, scissor lifts, boom lifts, motor vehicle (company truck), and other light duty machinery.
