The Minnesota Wild Organization is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual to join our organization as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 2024-2025 season. This role will work closely with our Head Strength and Conditioning Coach/Director of Player Performance to develop and implement comprehensive strength and conditioning programs for our professional hockey players. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of strength training, conditioning methodologies, nutrition and supplementation, tools and technology commonly used in professional sports, injury prevention techniques specific to ice hockey athletes, and an understanding of how to rehabilitate hockey-related injuries.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborate with the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach to design and execute individualized strength and conditioning programs for players, tailored to their specific needs and goals.
  • Assist in conducting fitness assessments and evaluations to track player progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee on-ice and off-ice training sessions and guide players on proper technique and form.
  • Work closely with the medical and coaching staff to develop and implement injury prevention strategies and rehabilitation protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of training data and player performance metrics.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of the team's strength and conditioning facilities and equipment.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in strength and conditioning research and apply relevant findings to program development.
  • Provide support and guidance to players on nutrition, hydration, and recovery strategies to optimize performance and recovery, in-season and off-season.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • FORMAL EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION
    • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
    • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
    • CPR/AED certification is required; additional certifications in sports medicine or athletic training are a plus.
  • KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
    • 5+ years of experience working in strength and conditioning is required.
    • 3+ years of previous experience working with elite athletes is required, preferably in a professional hockey environment.
    • Strong knowledge of periodization principles and exercise prescription.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Required to be present at all home practices and games throughout the NHL season.
  • Ability to travel for away practices and games, as well as occasional travel to visit prospects or support our AHL team in Iowa.
  • Attend all team camps and be available for off-ice training sessions.
