Payroll Accountant

The Payroll Accountant will ensure the integrity of payroll and benefits accounting by recording, verifying, entering, and reconciling transactions for all payroll, payroll tax, and benefits-related activity including workers’ compensation reporting.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

  • Maintain general ledger by reconciling accounts for all payroll and benefits activity
  • Prepare bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll compliance and tax reporting
  • Review and record payroll/benefits invoices for appropriate coding and approvals
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of month-end close process for all payroll and benefits accounts
  • Prepare event labor reviews and allocations from payroll records
  • Serve as internal Lead for annual benefit plan audits
  • Represent finance for annual budget/forecasting initiatives for payroll and benefits projections
  • Work with Risk Manager to provide all wage projections and audits for workers’ compensation
  • Responsible for payroll systems management and updates
  • Provide other support and report to payroll/finance department as needed/assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President-Finance | Controller

Position Requirements:

  1. FORMAL EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s Degree – Accounting
  2. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • 2-5 years of related experience
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Payroll / Benefits accounting experience preferred
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Professional level of customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly within a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
  • Ability to perform and handle confidential payroll/benefits duties
