The Miami HEAT is seeking a tenacious individual with a strong work ethic to serve as our HVAC Electrical Technician! This role, under general supervision, will perform a variety of skilled tasks to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical equipment in and around the Arena.

Roles & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

  • Develop and follow preventative maintenance schedule for HVAC and/or electrical machinery, equipment, and wiring.
  • Solve mechanical and electrical malfunctions. Repair all inoperable mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Inspect and assist on all mechanical and electrical work and wiring to ensure the facility meets safety standards.
  • Act as first responder and primary source of information at the Arena for any Arena alarms that may occur during the work shift, including:
    • Arena Fire Alarms
    • HVAC Building Automation System (BAS) Alarms
    • Arena Power Loss
    • Arena Pump Alarms/Issues
    • Sprinkler or Plumbing Leaks or Emergencies
  • As first responder, the HVAC – Electrical Tech shall work with the Security Team to:
    • Determine the location of the alarm or issue
    • Determine if the alarm is real or a nuisance alarm – notify security if the alarm is real.
    • Determine what steps need to be taken to correct or restore the alarm condition.
    • Report findings to Security on site and up the reporting chain so that relevant parties are aware of the:
      • Source of the issue/alarm
      • Actions taken to address the alarm and minimize damage.
      • If immediate assistance is vital, call the Engineering Supervisor ASAP to let him know what assistance is necessary.
      • If immediate assistance is not required, note and follow-up action required by others/subsequent shifts to further correct the alarm condition.
  • At the end of each shift the HVAC – Electrical Technician shall confirm to the Engineering Supervisor that there are no errors or alarms in the following systems that need immediate attention:
    • Lighting Control System
    • HVAC Building Automation System
    • Arena Electrical Issues
    • Arena Fire Alarm Issues
  • At the end of each shift the HVAC – Electrical Technician shall catalog all work, repairs and projects completed that day through the building maintenance work order system.
  • Assist with special event preparation, conversions, and post event needs, as requested.
  • While this position is intended to be a consistent, off hours work schedule (typical schedule for this position will be nights and/or weekends), there will be occasions where extended work and/or irregular hours, including holidays, will be required.
  • Assists co-workers in the Engineering and Operations departments with projects that include labor, plumbing, cleaning, painting, and other non-electrician related duties as assigned.
  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, scissor lifts or other light equipment.
  • Operate, monitor, and repair emergency power generator, Fire Alarm system, Lighting controls system and Building automation system for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. and five (5) years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess thorough understanding of the operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and proper use of all procedures, techniques, machines, materials, equipment, and tools used in electrical construction and maintenance.
  • Understand and work from general instructions and specifications and follow blueprints, sketches, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to follow all safety precautions, building codes, rules, regulations, risk management and emergency procedures.
